Results of comprehensive studies on abiotic and biotic components of the ecosystems of the Denishi and Otsechnoye reservoirs of the Teterev River are given in the paper. The main attention was paid to the study of pH, dissolved oxygen concentration, suspended matter content, and water coloration, and also to the study of the peculiarities of migration and distribution of such chemical elements as Si, Al, Fe, Ti, and Cu. The structure (taxonomic diversity, numbers, and biomass) and ecological and geographic characteristics of phytoplankton were also investigated. Relationship was established between phytoplankton development and pH, O2, and Si. Results of the study of the content and forms of metals occurrence suggest that the environmental conditions in the Teterev River are favorable to the development and vital activity of phytoplankton. © 2016 Begell House, Inc.

Results of the study of seasonal dynamics of the development of naked amoebas of the Teterev River (the town of Zhitomir) carried out in 2012-2013 are given in the paper. The main regularities of phytoplankton dynamics in a small reservoir, on the example of the Denishi Reservoir (the Teterev River), are given in the paper. Results of long-term studies of phytoplankton taxonomic composition, intensity of its development, and processes of production and decomposition are presented. Samples were taken at more than 80 stations located within the basin of the Dnieper River. The distribution of mollusks of the genus Unio, the frequency of their occurrence, and the density of their populations were investigated along with the study of hydrological and hydrochemical characteristics of sampling stations. The ecological spectra of mollusks were determined. The peculiarities of the distribution and ecology of these animals were compared with those given in literature. © 2011 Begell House, Inc.

Investigations were carried out at 208 sampling stations located in water bodies and watercourses of Ukraine. It has been found that Dreissena polymorpha and D. bugensis occurred on the shells of mollusks of the family Unionidae in 40 and 13 water bodies, respectively.
