The characteristics of swarm evolutionary mechanism were analyzed, and a corresponding product configuration model was proposed. In order to select appropriate queen and male bees, a selection operator was established via similarity evaluation technique. A crossover operator was established to inherit useful components through components traversal, and a mutation operator was also established so as to configure individualized components based on the topological sort algorithm of constraint directed graph. The method of fitness evaluation was put forward by using estimated elements. The strategy and method were effective in an instance of the product called bridge crane. Source

The problems of the individualized product evaluation were formalized, and a product evaluation model with algorithms based on case reasoning was proposed. The case library was divided into groups through fuzzy clustering analysis, and different groups had different dynamic weights by mathematical calculation under the constraints of experience rules. The program flow chart of the algorithm of evaluation parameter weights optimization was presented. Euclidean distance with weights was adopted to search a similar instance. The final result of product evaluation was adjusted based on the similar instance. The proposed methodology demonstrated the effectiveness in an instance of the evaluation of crane products. Source

Aimed to satisfy the manufactories' needs of cost estimation at different periods in mass customization, a cost estimation service model of product in mass customization was proposed. Several atomic services including dynamic weights assignment algorithm, similar instance group matching, exponential smoothing algorithm were established, and composite services like coarse cost estimation, rapid cost estimation, real-time cost estimation, accurate cost analysis were also put forward. These services were assembled piecemeal in the application systems, such as rapid quoting for customer, final order quoting, cost control, profit calculation. Assistant decision chart for final quoting of new customization products was also presented. The proposed methodology demonstrates the effectiveness in an instance of cost estimation of an overhead traveling crane product. Source

To satisfy mass customization requirements of the slab and frame products, based on analysis of the similarities of the slab and frame products, a corresponding product configuration model was put forward. Clustering method of weighted Euclidean distance was applied to calculate similarity between historical instance and the new product so as to resolve similar case extraction in configuration process. The configuration knowledge base was adopted to optimize the configuration results and product configuration method based on similar case for the slab and frame products was also realized. Through example of configuration design of crane main girder, the practical value of the proposed method was revealed. Source
