The straw fibers were treated with different methods and modifiers, and blended with poly(butylene succinate)(PBS) to modify PBS. The straw fiber/PBS composites were prepared by hot-pressing. The effects of boiling processes and microwave treatment on the extraction of the straw fibers, as well as impacts of the type of modifiers and its addition on the straw fiber and properties of the straw fiber/PBS composites were studied. SEM was used to observe the surface morphology of the straw fibers before and after the treatment. The results show that straw fibers boiled for 30min twice, processed continuously by microwave for 15min, respectively get the best specimen. The straw fibers treated in the latter way have a looser property but larger specific surface than that processed the former, and the straw fiber/PBS composites have a better combination property and the best mechanical property under stearic acid condition of about 3.5%.

Pulse carries much information about health condition of human body. Pulse diagnosis is taken as a new method known as green with no wound diagnosis and gets much attention and interest. Traditional TCM obtains pulse information depended on fingers, which has characters of simplicity, no wound and no pain and is easy for patients to accept, also presents some flaws in the long time medical practice. In order to prevent subjective assumption affecting the standard of pulse decision, meanwhile record and memorize the apperceptive pulse, a novel project about embedded pulse monitoring instrument is proposed here to study the pulse qualitatively and quantitatively. It ensures the precision of measurement and gives a new way to the research of pulse mechanism for the application and development of TCM pulse diagnosis. © 2010 IEEE.

Nano-SiO2/silicone modified polyacrylate emulsifier-free emulsion was synthesized by emulsifier-free emulsion polymerization and sol-gel technique. The effect of the content of nano-SiO2 on emulsion stability, solvent resistance and optical properties of film was investigated. The microstructure of the emulsion and film was studied by TEM and SEM. The results indicated that the emulsifier-free emulsion had better polymerization stability, and centrifugal stability of emulsion decreased with the increasing content of nano-SiO2. The water resistance of nano-SiO2/silicone modified polyacrylate hybrid film was better than that of silicone modified polyacrylate film, and increased with increasing content of nano-SiO2. The hybrid film had good light transmittance and ultraviolet light absorption property. In the hybrid film, silica domains smaller than 100nm were dispersed homogeneously in the polyacrylate component.

Chrome-tanned collagen fiber is the major solid waste of leather industry which is difficult to biological degradation and would caused serious pollution to the environment. However, the collagen fibers as a natural biological polymer materials, has unique properties of surface reactivity that the other polymer materials are not available. In this paper, the composite film of chrome-tanned collagen fiber- polyurethane (PU) were prepared is owing to H2O induced phase separation, and measured water vapor permeability, permeability, mechanical properties and microstructure. The results showed that the composite film of chrome-tanned collagen fiber-PU have continuous porous structure, which can improve the water vapor permeability and permeability of film, but reduce the mechanical properties of film. Thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) showed that the thermal effect of collagen fiber and PU did not change significantly, so composite of collagen fiber and polyurethane by H2O induced phase separation belongs to physical process. The result demonstrates that this composite film has continuous porous structure, and collagen fibers with unique properties of surface reactions, so this material have potential applications in many fields. © (2011) Trans Tech Publications.

The present work investigated the drying period effect on the activity, morphology, crystallinity, and other properties of antimony-doped tin dioxide-coated titanium electrodes prepared by coating pyrolysis method. The drying period is found to be an important factor affecting the electrode activity. The antimony content in the electrode decreased when the drying period increased. Simultaneously, crack width, Sn3d5/2 binding energy, crystallite size, catalyst loading, and resistivity increased with the drying time. The results showed that the electrode prepared with the drying time of 10 min had the highest activity towards phenol degradation in the series under study. © 2013 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

With the development of electric technology, the charge management of heat appears tendency towards computerization and information. The calorimeter is a crucial equipment that implements reasonable calculation of the user's consumption of heat. It supplies the actual consumption to the related department which charges more accurately. A calorimeter is complex than a water meter, a ammeter and such kind of meter class. For the purpose of reasonable heat measurement and charges, a calorimeter should be high quality, low cost, durable and maintainability. A wireless calorimeter based on ARM which involves the design of hardware and software, includes flow sensor, temperature sensor, wireless chip nRF24El, ARM7 controller PLC2103. The administration adopt calorimeter to measure heat that not only small in size, low power consumption, facilities the users, but easy to manage. © 2010 IEEE.

The recovery of silver from ammonia chelated silver alkaline waste water, COD removal from acetate waste water and electricity production in a dual chamber bio-electrochemical cell was investigated. The results indicated that pure silver could be deposited on cathode with over 99.9% silver ions removed from the catholyte while over 83% COD could be removed from anolyte simultaneously. As a result, the maximum electricity of 3.2. J and 160. C charges could be produced and 1.6. g Ag could be recovered on the cathode when 1. g COD was removed from the anolyte in the bio-electrochemical cell. © 2013 Elsevier Ltd.

A sleep-monitoring analysis system was designed to collect and storage people's several kinds of physiology signal without affecting their sleep. It was combined with virtual instrument, which set up a signal processing platform on personal computer, to analyze stored signal by methods like time domain, frequency domain and power spectrum. We can get people's physical condition through that signal. This system is easy to use, functional, inexpensive and causing no burden to the user. The application result shows that this system could provide precise information for doctor. It has great value to apply in the hospital or household healthcare fields. © 2010 IEEE.

The removal efficiency of COD Cr and ammonia nitrogen of the high concentration of ammonia nitrogen from tannery effluent by membrane bioreactor (MBR) was investigated. The results showed that when the operation of MBR is stable, influent COD Cr loads are less than 4.8 kg/m 3·d, the average removal rate of COD Cr was over 88%, the removal rate of ammonia nitrogen reached to 90%; when dissolved oxygen (DO) was 1.2mg/L and 1.8 mg/L, the reactor still has excellent treatment efficiency, and the removal rate of COD Cr and ammonia nitrogen can achieved over 90%. In addition, through the study of membrane flux, it is easy to find that membrane flux decreases rapidly, the membrane requires periodic cleansing. © (2011) Trans Tech Publications.

Monitoring sleep state and sending out alarm signal according to the state and the acute disease belong to the area of sleep basic research and prediction of outbreaks of diseases. The system includes:monitoring and analyzing the sleeper pulse's physiological parameters, the embedded computer judge whether or not the sleeper suffers acute disease(heart disease, cerebral haemorrhage, etc) . If so, the wrist pulse monitoring device sends the wireless alarm signal. When the bedside wireless receiver receives the alarm, it can send sound or telephone alarm. The sound alarm can explicitly tell nearby accompanists, the telephone sound alarm can give an alarm according to the telephone number set in advance, and inform relevant personnel, may also inform the 120 emergency center . At the same time, the bedside wireless remote devices open the door to wait for the arrival of emergency personnel. When acute diseases suddenly break at night, the system can effectively solve the patients emergency treatment, and creates the condition for the patient's prompt treatment. © 2010 IEEE.
