Milk protein fiber was dyed with cationic, neutral and reactive dyes. Factors exerting influence on dye uptake were analyzed, such as temperature, pH value, time, and auxiliaries. The results showed that the building up, migration and fastness of ionic dyes for milk protein fiber were good. The optimal dyeing process using cationic dyes were as below; dyeing temperature 85°C , pH value 5.0 5.5 , time 40min; using neutral dyes; dyeing temperature 80°C , pH value 3.5-4.5, time 45min; using reactive dyes; dyeing temperature 90°C , pH value 3.5-4.5, time 55min.

A series of 1, 5-benzothiazepine derivatives were synthesized by the reaction of 1, 5-benzothiazepine containing 2-phenoxy-quinoline with benzohydroximinoyl chlorides and hydrazonoyl chlorides at room temperature. The structures of these novel compounds were confirmed by spectrum, elemental, and X-ray crystallographic analysis. © 2011 Springer Science+Business Media B.V.

2,2-Dichloro-4,4,6,6-bis[spiro(2',2''-dioxy-1',1''-biphenylyl)]cyclotriphosphazene was synthesised from the reaction of hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene with biphenyl-2,2'-diol. 2,2-Bis(4-formylphenoxy)-4,4,6,6-bis[spiro(2',2''-dioxy-1',1''biphenylyl)]cyclotriphosphazene was obtained from the reaction of 2,2-dichloro-4,4,6,6-bis[spiro(2',2''-dioxy-1',1''-biphenylyl)] cyclotriphosphazene with 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde. 2,2-Bis[4-(4-quinazolinone)phenoxy]-4,4,6,6-bis[spiro(2',2''-dioxy-1',1''biphenylyl)]cyclotriphosphazene was synthesised from the reaction of 2,2-bis(4-formylphenoxy)-4,4,6,6-bis[spiro(2',2''-dioxy- 1',1''-biphenylyl)]cyclotriphosphazene with anthranilamide in N,N-dimethylformamide. The novel cyclophosphazene derivatives were synthesised under mild conditions from the reaction of 2,2-bis[4-(4-quinazolinone)phenoxy]-4,4,6,6-bis[spiro(2',2''dioxy-1',1''-biphenylyl)]cyclotriphosphazene with 4-chlorobenzenemethanethiol, p-thiocresol, 4-aminothiophenol, and 4-chlorothiophenol in the presence of p-toluenesulfonyl chloride via C-OH bond activation under mild conditions. All products were generally obtained in high yields. Their structures were characterised by HRMS, IR and 1H, 13C spectroscopy.

In this contribution, a novel smart drug delivery system based on poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm), clay, and linear polyacrylamide (PAAm) was developed for prolonged and sustained controlled drug release. Various amounts linear PAAm were incorporated into PNIPAAm/clay hydrogels. Resulting hydrogels were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, and compression measurements to investigate the morphological, thermal, and mechanical properties. The swelling ratio and response kinetics on heating or cooling were also investigated to understand the smart properties. Finally, bovine serum albumin (BSA), used as the model drug, was loaded into the hydrogels to examine and compare the effects of controlled release at different temperatures (20°C and 37°C). The result indicated that all the PNIPAAm/clay/linear PAAm gels showed good smart property with a higher swelling ratio and more complicated deswelling behavior. Although the compression properties of the resulting hydrogels decreased by incorporating the linear PAAm into the network of PNIPAAm/clay, they still showed high compression stress and excellent reversibility. BSA release behavior at 20°C and 37°C revealed that a prolonged release of BSA with the auto-adjustable function to external temperature changes. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
