Researchers survey the chemical and biological literature regarding the isolation, structure elucidation, biological activities, biosynthesis, and chemical synthesis of azaphilone derivatives from nature. The general methods for the synthesis of some natural azaphilone-like scaffolds are also discussed. Citrinin produced by several fungal species of genera Penicillium, Monascus, and Aspergillus, is widely considered as a hazardous contaminant of foods and feeds. A number of various derivatives of the citrinin family have been isolated from different P. citrinum strains and two Aspergillus species. The derivatives can be classified into four different categories on the basis of the degree of polymerization of the citrinin core, including monomeric citrinin congeners 2-6 and decarboxydihydrocitrinin.

The one-to-one correspondence between a (3 + 1) -dimensional variable-coefficient nonlinear Schrödinger equation with linear and parabolic potentials and a standard nonlinear Schrödinger equation is given, and an exact superposed Akhmediev breather solution in certain parameter conditions is obtained. These precise expressions for the peak, width, center and phase indicate that diffraction and chirp factors influence the evolutional characteristics such as phase, center and width, while the gain/loss parameter only affects the evolution of the peak. Moreover, by modulating the relation between the terminal accumulated time T e or the maximum accumulated time T m and the accumulated time T0 based on the maximum amplitude of Akhmediev breather, the controllability for the type of excitation such as postpone, maintenance and restraint of the superposed Akhmediev breather is discussed. © 2013 Elsevier Inc.

The propagation of a higher-order cosh-Gaussian beam through a paraxial and real ABCD optical system in turbulent atmosphere has been investigated. The analytical expressions for the average intensity, the effective beam size, and the kurtosis parameter of a higher-order cosh-Gaussian beam through a paraxial and real ABCD optical system are derived in turbulent atmosphere. The average intensity distribution and the spreading properties of a higher-order cosh-Gaussian in turbulent atmosphere are numerically demonstrated. The influences of the beam parameters and the structure constant of the atmospheric turbulence on the propagation of a higher-order cosh-Gaussian beam in turbulent atmosphere are also examined in detail. © 2011 Optical Society of America.

A radial phased-locked (PL) Lorentz beam array provides an appropriate theoretical model to describe a coherent diode laser array, which is an efficient radiation source for high-power beaming use. The propagation of a radial PL Lorentz beam array in turbulent atmosphere is investigated. Based on the extended Huygens-Fresnel integral and some mathematical techniques, analytical formulae for the average intensity and the effective beam size of a radial PL Lorentz beam array are derived in turbulent atmosphere. The average intensity distribution and the spreading properties of a radial PL Lorentz beam array in turbulent atmosphere are numerically calculated. The influences of the beam parameters and the structure constant of the atmospheric turbulence on the propagation of a radial PL Lorentz beam array in turbulent atmosphere are discussed in detail. © 2011 Optical Society of America.

The propagation of an Airy beam with a spiral phase is studied. The centroid position and spread of the beam are investigated analytically for different topological charges. Study shows that the centroid position of the Airy beam with a spiral phase keeps moving during propagation. The motion with positive topological charge is in the direction opposite to that with negative topological charge. The speed of the motion of the centroid position is proportional to the topological charge and the normalized distance. From the variation of the second moment of the beam, we can also see that the beam spread is speeded up by the spiral phase during propagation. The speed of the beam spread is proportional to the square of the topological charge. © 2012 Optical Society of America.

Based on the generalized Huygens-Fresnel integral and the Hermite-Gaussian expansion of a Lorentz distribution, analytical expressions for the mutual coherence function, the effective beam size, and the spatial complex degree of coherence of a partially coherent LorentzGauss beam through a paraxial and real ABCD optical system are derived, respectively. As a numerical example, the focusing of a partially coherent Lorentz-Gauss beam is considered. The normalized intensity distribution, the effective beam size, and the spatial complex degree of coherence for the focused partially coherent Lorentz-Gauss beam are numerically demonstrated in the focal plane. The influence of the spatial coherence length on the normalized intensity distribution, the effective beam size, and the spatial complex degree of coherence is mainly discussed. ©2010 Optical Society of America.

In a species, the miRNA repertoire comprises many lineage- or species-specific miRNAs. Using deep sequencing, the whole transcriptome of seedling roots was studied and a total of 18 novel miRNAs in indica rice Minghui 86 were identified. Among these novel miRNAs six were up-regulated and two were down-regulated under arsenite stress. Quantitative real-time RT-PCR analysis revealed that miR6254 was predominantly expressed in roots relative to other tissues, whereas miR6250 and miR169i-3p were constitutively expressed in all tissues examined, with high abundance in roots (miR6250) or leaves (miR169i-3p). The miR6250 and miR169i-3p miRNAs also exhibited distinct expression patterns in rice cultivars Minghui 86 and Nipponbare at different time points after arsenite treatment. The predicted targets for these miRNAs included some protein kinases, DNA, or ATP-binding proteins. Besides arsenite, the expression of targets of miR6250 and miR6254 was also up- or down-regulated in response to abiotic environmental stresses, indicative of their involvement in regulation of plant adaptation. Three types of cis-elements involved in hormone, light, and stress response were found to occur frequently in the promoter regions. Interestingly, miR6254 was originally characterized to be an exonic miRNA located in the exon of AK101391, supporting the notion that miRNAs may also originate from some exons in plants. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

The evolution of Airy beam intensity distribution in turbulence is examined. Results show that the centroid position and skewness of an Airy beam are independent on turbulence. When the exponential truncation factor is small, an Airy beam has a long tail on the left side. When the exponential truncation factor is larger than 1, an Airy beam can be approximately expressed by an off-axis Gaussian beam. If the effect of turbulence is large enough, the Airy beam converges to a Gaussian distribution. However, the convergence is slower for a small exponential truncation factor than for a large one. That is, an Airy beam with a smaller exponential truncation factor exhibits more resilience against perturbations of turbulence than does a larger one. © 2011 Optical Society of America.

The present invention belongs to the field of feed, and particularly relates to formula feed containing biogas residues for chickens. The formula feed for chickens is prepared by mixing a component A and a component B, wherein the component A makes up 17%-37.5% of the total weight. The component A is prepared by mixing the following raw materials in parts by weight: 20-50 parts of biogas residues, 15-28 parts of radix astragali residues, 3-6 parts of purple perilla, 4-8 parts of eucommia leaves, 3-8 parts of purslane and 1-2 parts of premix. The biogas residues are resulting products from anaerobic fermentation of distillers grains left by using cassava or sweet potatoes as raw materials for fermentation, and are then moisture removed by mechanical extrusion, dried by exposure to the sun and finally crushed by a crusher for use. The component B is prepared by mixing the following raw materials in parts by weight: 48-52 parts of corn, 10-12 parts of soybean meal, 1.2-1.5 parts of calcium hydrophosphate, 1.2-1.3 parts of rock flour and 0.1-0.3 parts of salt. The scientifically-formulated and nutrient-rich feed composition enhances the immunity of chicks, decreases the risk of various diseases or infections during the feeding process, and reduces the use of drugs.
