The work reported in this paper deal with of Finite Impulse Response FIR digital filter design by using window method. The window method is easiest to design FIR, but lacks flexibility especially when the passband and stopband ripples are different. The digital filter is used to filter discrete time signals with the ability to modify the frequency response of the filter at any time and it used in many application such as data compression, biomedical signal processing, communication receivers, etc. Using MATLAB package software programs are developed for designing FIR digital filter and good results are obtained. © 2013 IEEE. This paper presents the theoretical analysis of CO2 emission/mitigation and carbon credit earned by different designs of solar still in India. Numerical computation is performed on the basis of experimental performance of the solar stills, reported by various researchers. Estimation of carbon credits, which will accrue to the nation, is carried out for an expected system life span of 20 years and accounting 250, 275, and 300 clear days during a year. Return on the investment on the basis of life cycle cost analysis has also been carried out accounting carbon trading in the European market. It is found that the annual cash flow due to the carbon trading decrease the cost of production of distillate by Rs. 0.15 per liter with current carbon trading rate €2.10 per ton. © 2013 Copyright Balaban Desalination Publications. There are two important aspects of workflow to be considered: flow of control and flow of data. In terms of data in workflows, there is a little reported in literature. The problem of dataflow is becoming more and more prominent as the workflow system gets more complex. Verification of data flow has not been studied as extensively as verification of control flow. The dataflow verification in workflow processes is very important. Several possible errors in the dataflow are identified, such as the missing, losing, and the redundant data error. No means for checking these errors are provided. There are several challenging problems associated with dataflow issues such as: (1) how to discover errors relating to the dataflow; (2) how to analyze and verify the absence of dataflow errors in workflow system; (3) how to evaluate dataflow issues in workflow system. The objective of this paper is to provide a systematic technique of possible flows related to the flow of data in business process, check and analyze the dataflow issues. Applied Thermal Engineering

A numerical and experimental investigation was conducted on the thermal performance of latent heat thermal energy storage (LHTES) systems which use heat pipes (HPs) for solar thermal power generation. The aim of this study was to quantify the advantages of utilising axially finned HPs rather than bare HPs in LHTES systems. The numerical model uses the effective heat capacity formulation to simulate the solidification process in the phase change material (PCM) and adopts the thermal resistance network approach simulate the heat transfer phenomena through the HPs. The experimental measurements were conducted on a bare heat pipe and on an identical heat pipe with four axial fins. The numerical predictions and the experimental measurements were found to be in good agreement. The benefits of finning the HPs can be seen by considering the enhancement of the rate of energy extraction from the PCM as well as the HP effectiveness. The results have shown the energy extracted increased by 86% and the heat pipes effectiveness increased by 24%. © 2014 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved. Source

Cyclosporin A is a compound widely used as an immunosuppressive drug, particularly, in case of kidney transplantation to prevent rejection of transplanted organ. This study aimed to investigate the bad side effect of acute and chronic treatment with cyclosporin A on liver and kidneys by measuring liver enzymes and kidney function tests in serum. Male rats were used as experimental model in this study. The results of this study concluded that, chronic treatment with cycloosprin A leads to increase in serum urea, creatinine, and uric acid significantly compared to control, also, ALT and Alkaline phosphatase activities in serum were increased by chronic administration of cyclosporine A for four weeks. Decrease of serum albumin and total protein were observed significantly compared to control groups. © 2016 Ata Sedik Ibrahim Elsayed et al. Source
