Maintenance of case base is an important part in Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) system. In order to improve the efficiency of case base maintenance, a method based on case clustering and rule was proposed in this paper. Firstly, by using of the Self-Organizing Maps networks (SOM), a visual clustering output of previous cases is obtained. Then, the maintenance rules, including addition rule and deletion rule for a new case is defined to describe the maintenance. So, according to maintenance rules and visual clustering graph, a human operator can "easily" decide whether the new case was discarded or added, and thus the maintenance of case base was completed. Finally, the efficiency of proposed method was verified by experimental results.

After a full analysis of the principle and general structure of Medicine Distribution Center (MDC), this paper researches the application of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) in MDC. The MDC adopts the RFID as the support platform, covering the medicines’ entry, picking, checking, delivery and many other operation flows. The paper also constructs a new medicine-distribution mode and its information system model in accordance with GPS (global positioning system), GIS (geographical information system) and routing optimization technology. The MDC can collect, deliver, check, and update mass data on the medicines’ entry and delivery, the labor intensity being decreased. Fault scanning, miss scanning, re-scanning and other artificial errors have been avoided, and the efficiency and accuracy improved. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Anthocyanins in the flowers of pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) were extracted and separated by reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography and Sephadex LH-20 chromatography. Two anthocyanins were identified to be pelargonidin 3,5-diglucoside and pelargonidin 3-glucoside by spectral methods, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, mass spectroscopy and comparisons with the literature. These two anthocyanins were identified from pomegranate flowers for the first time. Furthermore, the antioxidant activities of purified anthocyanins were screened for their antioxidative potential using 2,2′-diphenyl-1-picryl hydrazyl (DPPH) and 3-ethyl-benzo-thiazoline-6-sulphonate (ABTS) systems. The purified anthocyanins showed strong radical scavenging activities. Pelargonidin 3-glucoside showed higher antioxidant activity (50% inhibition values of 19.56 μg/ml for DPPH and Trolox equivalents antioxidant activity of 2.39 μg/μg for ABTS) than pelargonidin 3,5-diglucoside. © 2011 Elsevier Ltd. Four Endophragmiella species are described and illustrated: E. nanlingensis occurring on dead branches of Melicope triphylla is proposed as new, and E. pulchra, E. rostrata, and E. resinae found on dead branches of unidentified plants are recorded for the first time from China. In this paper, we investigate the multiple attribute decision making (MADM) problems for evaluating the software quality with triangular fuzzy information. Then, we extend the grey relational analysis (GRA) procedure for triangular fuzzy multiple attribute decision making for evaluating marine service industry in triangular fuzzy setting. According to the concept of the GRA, a fuzzy relative relational degree is defined to determine the ranking order of all alternatives by calculating the degree of fuzzy grey relational coefficient to both the triangular fuzzy positive-ideal solution (TFPIS) and triangular fuzzy negative-ideal solution (TFNIS) simultaneously. Finally, an illustrative example for evaluating the software quality is given to verify the developed approach and to demonstrate its practicality and effectiveness.

The present study was designed to compare the antioxidant capacity of 70% ethanol extracts of petal, stamen and receptacle of pomegranate flowers (PF) by DPPH, reducing power, hydroxyl radicals (OH), DNA degradation and DNA breaking assays, as well as the peroxide value (POV). The different parts of PF showed significant activities in all the free radical scavenging tests. Among the parts, receptacle exhibited the highest inhibition of 44.86%, 61.21% and 44.47% in DPPH, OH and DNA degradation assays, respectively, and 63.96% reduction of ferricyanide to give Prussian blue colored complex in reducing power assay at maximum concentration tested, and showed the lowest POV of 68.51 meq/kg in experimental model of soybean oil after 12 days. Protection against oxidative damage to DNA molecules of various parts of flower was confirmed visually by DNA breaking assay. Total phenolic contents of the parts of flower and peel and leaves were estimated by Folin-Ciocalteu method and receptacle was found to contain the highest amount (148.41 ± 6.25 mg/g) of phenolics among the parts of flower, but the phenolic content of flower (petal, stamen and receptacle) was lower than peel, higher than leaves. Linear correlation (R 2 = 0.7139-0.9987) between antioxidant potential of various parts in different assays and phenolic contents was observed. This preliminary study indicates the antioxidant activity of PF, and moreover the results showed correlation with the amount of phenolic content present in different parts. Therefore, all parts of PF could be considered as a significant natural antioxidant source. © 2010 The Institution of Chemical Engineers. Published by Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Pomegranate leaves are an important source of potentially healthy bioactive compounds. Changes in total phenolics, flavonoids, alkaloids and antioxidant activities in pomegranate leaves were recorded from April 18th to September 16th, 2007. Total levels of phenolics and flavonoids decreased significantly in the early stages of leaf growth, and then increased gradually until the end of September. However, concentrations of total alkaloids increased during leaf growth and development. Antioxidant activities in pomegranate leaves were significantly correlated with the level of total phenolics and flavonoids. All bioactive compounds measured from pomegranate leaves increased during leaf growth and development. These trends suggest that the optimum picking time for tea is before May and bioactive compounds should be extracted from pomegranate leaves after August. © 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
