Fast and slow components of responses of scintillation detectors based on BaF2 crystals and nanoceramics with various activators are studied by the registration of annihilation gamma-quanta with an energy of 511 keV. A comparative analysis of the obtained results for the determination of promising scintillators for the development of detectors with high time and pulse height resolution is carried out. © 2016, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

The specificity of additive coloring of CaF2 optical ceramic (formation of color centers in it and photothermochemical transformation of these centers in colored ceramic samples) has been considered. Under the same coloring conditions, this process occurs more slowly in ceramics rather than in crystals; at the same time, the limiting concentration of color centers that can be introduced into ceramics is much higher. The photothermochemical transformations of color centers in crystals and ceramics, which occur under illumination at different wavelengths and upon heating, have been studied. The specific features of introduction of color centers into ceramic and their transformation under illumination and heating are likely to be related to the mass twinning of ceramic grains. © Pleiades Publishing, Ltd., 2011.

The thermal conductivity (at temperatures of 50–300 K) and specific heat (at 58–307 K) of Pb0.679Cd0.321F2 solid solution crystals with a fluorite structure, as well as the specific heat of crystals of fluorite modification β-PbF2 (in a temperature range of 79–311 K), have been experimentally investigated for the first time. The temperature dependences of the phonon mean free path in these crystals are determined. © 2015, Pleiades Publishing, Inc.

The vacuum UV (VUV) and UV absorption spectra and excitation spectra of core-valence and exciton luminescence are investigated.
