In order to seek an energy-saving way suitable for Chinese large-scale prebaked cells, Central South University, collaborated with Yunnan Aluminum Co. Ltd and Sichuan Qiya Aluminum Group and has put forward a "low-voltage energy-saving aluminum reduction technology". It includes a set of technical measures related to the adjustment of technological parameters and the innovation of cathode structure (e.g. "curved cathode", invented by the collaboration). With the combined use of the measures in test cells, the cell voltage has been reduced to 3.90-3.96 V while the current efficiency could be raised to or maintained at 93.0-95.5 % and DC consumption reduced to 12189-12501 kWh/t-Al. The extending application of the technology to whole potlines is now in process, the preliminary results of which have given us the hope that with more improvement and combined with China's well-designed potlines, this technology can realize the target of reducing DC consumption to below 12000kWh/t-Al and it can also be used for the upgrading of old-type cells to achieve marked energy-saving effects (e.g. reducing to below 12500k Wh/t-Al). The preparation technology and corrosion properties of inert SnO 2 coating on the prebaked anode steel claw of electrolytic aluminum were investigated. Using inert anode materials SnO 2 as the main raw material, the corrosion resistant coating on the prebaked anode steel claw of electrolytic aluminum was prepared by high temperature glaze method. The crystal structure, microstructure and chemical compositions of coating were analyzed by XRD, SEM and EDS. The results showed that the coating becomes more denser by improving heat treatment process and preparation technology. The optimal thickness of coating is 0.4 mm by corrosion resistance experiment. In this paper, the preparation and antioxidant properties of SnO 2 coating of steel claw of prebaked carbon used as electrolytic aluminium anode was investigated. A denser SnO2 coating on steel claw was prepared by high temperature glaze method. Phase Analysis, microstructure and chemical composition of the steel claw antioxidant coating were by Japan Rigaku D/Max2200 type X-ray diffraction, the Philip XL30 ESEM and EDS. the Oxidation resistance experiments results showed that the better anti-oxidation coating has a optimal thickness size of about 0.4mm. © (2012) Trans Tech Publications. The temperature field of the almuminun alloy solidification process was computed by finite element method. Considering the nonlinear features of material properties and boundary conditions, the equivalent specific heat method was adopted to treat the latent heat, and the temperature field of the almuminun alloy solidification process was simulated. The temperatures of different positions in casting aluminium alloy samples were measured by an experiment method using thermocouple meter, and the measured temperature curves agree well with the corresponding calculated ones. Thus it verifies the accuracy and validity of the numerical simulation, and the best boundary conditions and initial conditions of aluminium alloy casting process in the shaft top model were thus obtained.
