A 0.23mm-thick grain-oriented silicon steel sheet was successfully produced based on strip casting. The evolutions of microstructure and texture were briefly investigated. It was shown that the as-cast strip exhibited strong {001}<0vw> texture. Goss texture was absent in the hot rolled strip, which was distinct from the well accepted results that Goss texture originated during hot rolling. After the cycle of first stage cold rolling, intermediate annealing, second stage cold rolling and primary annealing, the strip exhibited weak α-fiber texture and relatively strong γ-fiber texture. This result was significantly different from previous results that Goss texture was the most populous component in the primary recrystallization texture of two-stage route in conventional process. After secondary recrystalization annealing, the magnetic induction B8 was as high as 1.84T. © 2015 IEEE. Source

Strip casting has a unique advantage in manufacturing grain-oriented silicon steels. A number of works concerning the fundamental research and the application of strip casting have been carried out both at home and abroad. However, they are still in the pilot phase. In China, Hi-B grain-oriented silicon steels with the B8 up to 1.94 T have been produced under laboratory conditions based on strip casting technology. The technical difficulties of manufacturing grain-oriented silicon steel by using strip casting were the control of solidification microstructure, inhibitor precipitation, origin of Goss texture, cold workability and so on. This paper summarizes the latest domestic and foreign research status of grain-oriented silicon steel based on strip casting around the key points and difficulties of the process. Grain-oriented silicon steel as-cast strips were made by using of twin-roll strip continuous casting. The microstructure and texture of as-cast strip were investigated. The results show that the microstructure of the as-cast strip consisted of ferrite matrix and martensite, and the heterogeneity of the texture and the microstructure demonstrated the obvious gradient through the thickness direction. In the case of superheat 30℃, grains oriented randomly. In the case of superheat 50℃, columnar dendritic was observed and the solidification texture of {100}(0vw) fiber evolved strongly. ©, 2015, Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society. All right reserved. Dynamic split tensile tests of reinforced concrete were carried out using the split Hopkinson pressure bar experimental technique to determine the failure modes of reinforced concrete at different strain rates, and the effect of reinforcement ratio and reinforcement layouts on the dynamic performance. The specimens with nine reinforcement ratios were used in the tests. Experimental results show that the tensile strength of reinforced concrete exhibits a critical strain rate, beyond which a larger increase in dynamic strength of specimens occur. The dynamic split tension strength of reinforced concrete is demonstrated to be greater than the plain concrete with the same strength grade over the range of tested strain rates. The results also indicate that the dynamic split tension strength of specimens enhances with the increase in the reinforcement ratio. These findings are instrumental to guide the structural design of reinforced concrete in engineering applications. © 2016 Springer Science+Business Media New York Source

In this paper, based on the Zienkiewicz-Pande criterion, which is a modification of the Mohr-Coulomb criterion, and considering the effects of intermediate principal stress, analytic solutions for the elastic-plastic stress of the surrounding rock of a tunnel/roadway, as well as the radius and displacement of the plastic zone, are deduced using an equilibrium equation. The influence of the intermediate principal stress on the Zienkiewicz-Pande criterion solution is analyzed through a given example, and the plastic zone radius and the distribution of surrounding rock stress are analyzed based on the Zienkiewicz-Pande and Mohr-Coulomb criterions, respectively, showing that the Zienkiewicz-Pande criterion is applicable to the elasto-plastic analysis of the surrounding rock in a tunnel/roadway. ©, 2015, Editorial Office of "Modern Tunnelling Technology".
