Flank modification is widely used in helical gear to diminish contact stress and edge contact, to improve the transmission performance. In this paper, tooth contact analysis is used to simulate the modified helical gear driver with high-order parabolic modification curve. The results show that the transmission error is diminished, and the meshing area is non-sensitive to the alignment errors. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Aiming at the problems of poor precision, low operation efficiency and low security due to the load oscillation of luffing motion for crane, an error asymptotic compensation control method was proposed to minimize the sway angle of load. Based on the analysis of error asymptotic compensation control theory, the error asymptotic compensation controller was designed. Through appropriate adjustments to the two stage compensation coefficients, the sway angle of the lifted load was gradually decreased, meanwhile, the requirements of the acceleration and the pump displacement were met. The MATLAB simulation results show that error asymptotic compensation controller has good robustness and control precision for different ropes and jib lengths. After the crane began to brake, the sway angle is reduced to below 0.003 rad in 10 seconds. ©, 2015, China Mechanical Engineering Magazine Office. All right reserved.

In order to avoid interference between the back of disc cutter with a concave end and gear teeth when spiral bevel gears are machined by a 5-axis CNC machine, the interference-avoiding methods were presented, based on structure of the cutter and gear respectively. According to the position relation between the cutter back cone and the opposite tooth surface, and the normal curvature values of cutter back cone should be higher than the values of the opposite tooth surface, the edge thickness and back cone angle of the cutter were determined, and the interference might be avoided. With a spiral bevel pinion as an example, through comparing the virtual machining tooth surface with the theoretical one, the feasibility of the interference-avoiding methods were verified. © 2016, China Mechanical Engineering Magazine Office. Stochastic bifurcation and chaos of a rub-impact rotor system with random stiffness under random excitation are studied in this article. Due to the irrational and fractional expressions existing in the denominator of rub-impact force, the integral process is very complicated. Taylor series expansion is used to expand the irrational and fractional expressions into a series of polynomials. Chebyshev polynomial approximation method is applied to reduce the system equations with random parameter to its equivalent deterministic one, and the responses of stochastic system can be obtained by numerical methods. Numerical simulations show that random parameters have a significant effect on the rub-impact rotor system. It may promote the nonlinear response when the rotational speed is near the 1/2 first-order critical speed and may suppress the nonlinear response when the rotational speed is over the first-order critical speed. © The Author(s) 2016.

Starting control is one of the most important control contents in a tractor equipped with automatic mechanical transmission (AMT). The working condition of tractor is variable, and the operating control for driver is complex, therefore it is an important part in auto-control to seek engine and clutch control strategies to satisfy the requirement for AMT tractor starting. In this paper, mathematical models of engine, clutch and farm implements are established. The starting performance is evaluated by tractor jerk and clutch slipping work. Tractor starting simulations are carried out based on DFH 1302R tractor. Through the work above, several key points are put forward in optimizing control strategies for tractor starting.

In the paper, a new transmission error design method for helical gears is presented. According to transition point position of the contact area in one meshing cycle, the proposed four-order transmission curve is able to diminish contact stress and edge contact, decrease transmission error as well. Tooth contact analysis is used to simulate contact conditions of helical gear driver with four-order parabolic modification curve. To improve the transmission ratio discontinuity problem during the gear shift process in a multi-gear fixed step ratio transmission of the tractors, a hydro-mechanical CVT for tractors was developed. Taking DFH 1302R tractor as the research object, the stepless speed regulation characteristics, condition of smooth shifting, torque characteristics, power split flow characteristics, efficiency characteristics and tractive characteristics of HMCVT were analyzed. By theoretical analysis, the results show that the designed HMCVT has advantages of wide speed governing range, large power transmission, high drive efficiency and steady transmission, which can meet the requirements of complicated variable working conditions of the tractors.

In the process of gear grinding, the grinding worm profile was modified with the wear of grinding worm, which has an important influence on machining accuracy. In this paper, the profile of grinding worm was calculated and simulated according to the tooth contact analysis. The profile error was analyzed according to the outer diameter of grinding worm. With the wear of grinding worm from outer diameter 400mm to 380mm, the grinding worm profile was recalculated after being redressed to ensure grinding accuracy. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

The traditional methods of dynamic modeling for the simulation of hydro-mechanical continuously variable transmission (HMCVT) are cumbersome and complex. The physical simulation models of engine, hydraulic speed regulating mechanism, mechanical speed regulating mechanism and the load were established based on Simscape, and the dynamic characteristics of the components were analyzed in the paper. The simulation results show that with the change of displacement ratio e, the output speed of the system is continuous and stepless, and the output torque of the system is constant when the torque of load is constant. From the analysis results, it is concluded that the physical models are feasible. The research provides a theoretical foundation and a verification platform for further development and improvement of HMCVT shifting strategy. © 2015 IEEE.
