Flexible transparent electrodes were fabricated by line patterning of conductive inks consisting of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) doped with poly(4-styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT/PSS) and ethylene glycol on PET films. The average values of thickness, sheet resistance (Rs), electrical conductivity, total light transmittance (TT), and haze of the flexible transparent electrodes in the range of PEDOT/PSS dispersion between 80395 wt% were found to be 101 nm, 160Ω/□, 630 S/cm, 95.5% and 1.3%, respectively. The standard deviations of in-plane distributions of Rs (av. 146Ω/□) and TT (av. 93.5%) were 3.9Ω/□ and 0.2%, respectively, indicating high uniformity with excellent electrical and optical properties as flexible transparent electrodes. Furthermore, a polymer dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) display was fabricated using the flexible PEDOT/PSS transparent electrodes. It was found that the PDLC display successfully operated by the opaque/transparent change due to the scattering/non-scattering transition caused by the electric field applied through top and bottom PEDOT/PSS electrodes. ©2016, The Society of Polymer Science, Japan. This study focuses on a technique for measuring the angle of rotational eye movement by tracking the conjunctival blood vessel ends of sclera, instead of grayscale iris patterns used in the existing techniques. It is because the blood vessel images of sclera have high grayscale contrasts. This technique especially recognizes the contour of the iris to detect the target conjunctival blood vessel end and use the degree of similarity by means of template matching to select automatically the blood vessel end to be tracked. The search region is limited by template matching to achieve low processing cost and high accuracy and resolution even when the background light varies. © 2014 IEEE. Source

The purpose of this paper is to present and compare disinfection effect of plasma by means of Atmospheric Pressure Glow plasma and streamer discharge. Geobacillus stearothermophilus was used as biological indicator for disinfection process. The effect of blades after irradiated in plasma was also studied by SEM analysis. It was found that the disinfection process was effective when the cylindrical configuration was applied. Carbon steel blade was also found to be deteriorated after immersed in plasma irradiation. Results indicate that disinfection can be achieved and at the same time deteriorations of the tools were observed. © 2010 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan. Source

Structural evaluation of the ZnO epitaxial layers grown by plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy (PAMBE) on the GaAs (111)B, c-plane (0001) and a-plane (11-20) sapphire (α-Al2O3) substrates was demonstrated by using high-resolution X-ray diffraction (XRD). The in-plane epitaxial relationships between the ZnO layers and the substrates were found to be ZnO(0001)〈11-20〉II GaAs(111)〈1-10〉, ZnO(0001)〈11- 20〉IIα-Al2O3 (0001) 〈1-100〉 and ZnO (0001)〈11-20〉IIα-Al2O3(11-20) 〈0001〉. All the ZnO layers were highly oriented to the c-axis but larger fluctuations of the c-axis were observed for the layers on the GaAs(111)B substrates. The lattice parameters of the ZnO layers were evaluated from the θ-2θ and ω-2θ scans, and reciprocal lattice mappings (RLMs). The in-plane compressive strains up to 0.3% in the ZnO layers on both the c-plane and a-plane sapphire substrates, and the in-plane tensile strains up to 0.4% in the ZnO films on the GaAs(111)B substrates were observed. © 2010 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Recently, with rapid progress of the computer hardware and 3D-CG software technologies, the 3D design system such as CAD and CAE, is popularized in manufactures. However, 3-dimensional data is produced now using man-machine interfaces, for example a 2-dimensional mouse and a keyboard, and using intricacy combined operations of those devices. So, designers said, It is far from sensate creation. Spark of imagination doesn't get interested. Therefore, little artistic designers especially jewel designers create using the 3D design system. In this paper, we describe the Virtual-glove using ERF (Electro Rheological Fluid) to feel the 3D virtual objects on operator's hand, propose the new actuator device for the small and lightweight virtual glove. Then we show the characteristics of ERF to reaction force. The results is shown the principle of reaction force using the device was clarified. © 2011 The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers.
