To assess the nutrient mobilization ability of myxomycete plasmodia in deadwood, a microcosm experiment was conducted. Alive or dead plasmodia of a common lignicolous myxomycete, Physarum rigidum, were inoculated on field-collected crushed wood powder of white-rot or brown-rot pine wood and incubated for 24 d. The activity of living plasmodia led to increased concentrations of Ca2+, K+, Mg2+, Na+, and Cl−, but lower PO4 3– concentrations in the wood powder. For NO3 − concentration, the effect of living plasmodia was negative in white-rotted wood but positive in brown-rotted wood. These results suggest that the plasmodium of P. rigidum has the ability to mobilize nutrients in deadwood. © 2017 Elsevier Ltd and British Mycological Society

Eight species of the family Theridiidae are reported from Brunei Darussalam. Phoroncidia lygeana (Walckenaer, 1842) is recorded for the first time and redescribed. Janula Stand, 1932 is revived from the synonymy of Episinus Latreille, 1809. Six new species of Janula, J. bruneiensis, J. bizona, J. bubalis, J. triangularis, J. batman and J. triocellata, are described. Monetoculus Wunderlich, 2008 is newly synonymised with Janula. A new genus, Brunepisinus, is erected based on a new species, B. selirong. © Arachnological Society of Japan.

Zatypota albicoxa (Walker) is newly recorded from Mt. Merapi, Java Is., Indonesia. This is the first record of Z. albicoxa from this part of the Oriental region and from the Southern Hemisphere, and the first record of the genus Zatypota from Southeast Asia. The Indonesian population of Z. albicoxa attacks a theridiid spider of the genus Parasteatoda, as do populations of Z. albicoxa in other regions. The spider is a new species, and is described under the name of Parasteatoda merapiensis. Copyright © 2011.

Three species of theridiid spiders from Japan and Taiwan are transerred from Phoroncidia Westwood, 1835 o Uesanis L Koch, 1872: U. pilula (Karch, 1879), U. nasutus (O. Pickard-Cambrdge, 1873) and U ryukyuenss (Yoshida, 1979), all wih new combinations. Uesanis nasutus is recorded for the t time om Japan and Taiwan and is redescribed on the bass of the material obtained from hose countres General appearances and genital organs of U. ryukyuenss are iusated.
