This paper introduces functions of traditional fault recorder and analyzes its digital demand. At the same time, it researches the design of fault recorder device system based on IEC61850, discusses the technical program and modeling method to achieve its 61850 communication service. The fault recorder device has passed the national grid IEC61850 consistency test, gotten a satisfactory test results, and met the needs of power system. In the project , it has a good application prospects.

A power quality analysis method based on electromechanical-electromagnetic hybrid simulation is proposed. The hybrid simulation for power quality analysis can not only enhance the simulation accuracy, and can realize power quality simulation of large scale power system. Then power quality simulation and assessment system is developed based on ADPSS. The system provides plenty of power quality models and achieves power quality simulation based on electromechanical-electromagnetic hybrid simulation. It will provide guidance and reference for power quality study. The hybrid simulation model of an actual large scale power system is built and voltage sag problems caused by short circuit tests are simulated based on the developed system. Simulation result shows the practicality and effectiveness of power quality simulation and assessment system. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications Switzerland.

The digital substation centralized protection device processes real-time information of the whole substation intensively, which improves the performance of protection. However, real-time information collected by centralized protection device may be lost due to some causes such as failure in communication network or mis-working of electronic transducer. The information deficiency makes centralized protection unable to remove faults rapidly and selectively, resulting in reduction of protection system reliability. This paper presents a new method for digital substation centralized protection to cope with boundary information deficiency. After a fault occurs, if the current sampling value of a transmission line is lost, first it is assumed that no faults occur on bus, the current value of the information missing line based on Kirchhoff's current law is figured out, then the fault is removed using general three-section line protection criterion. If this fault is detected in zone one protection of the information missing line, after making the breaker on this line trip without delay, it can be detected whether faults occur on bus using general bus differential protection criterion, in order to decide whether to trip all breakers connecting to the bus trip. Digital simulation proves the effectiveness of this method.

This paper analyzes deeply the work principle, the clock model, delay computation mechanism, transport protocol stack, and the communication mode of precision clock synchronization protocol (Procision Time protocol), short for PTP1588. Based on the analysis of the protocol, combined with network characteristics and time synchronization requirements of the process network of the digital substation, key points of application in the process network of the digital substation are pointed out. Finally the application ideas of the protocol are summarized-PTP1588 is a general time synchronization protocol, so for a specific application, appropriate protocol mechanisms and parameters in PTP1588 should be selected based on this specific application's network characteristics and synchronization requirements to construct the application scheme.

At present, the support vector machine (SVM) has been successfully applied in the field of electric load forecasting, but most of the load forecasting models are based on the day characteristics of meteorological factors, without considering a real-time weather factors which are valuable real-time information, while the prediction accuracy and generalization ability are influenced by the sample set of input variables. This paper aims to propose a selection strategy based on a sample of real-time weather factors. Firstly, data processing methods deal with abnormal points, secondly, then we use the day meteorological feature vectors to reduce the sample set, and use FP-Growth algorithm to select the training sample similar to prediction day based on real-time weather factors, finally prediction model based on SVM is established. The practical application shows that the text of the prediction models and processing strategies can be more accurate predictions. © 2012 IEEE.

According to the current technical conditions of digital substations, it is proposed that fault directional elements be incorporated in the transformer protection device and other adjacent protection devices, for joint completion of the transformer back-up protection function by these devices which exchange their locally measured fault directional information through the generic object oriented substation event (GOOSE) network. The action strategy for transformer back-up protection on the GOOSE network is discussed under the different conditions of mis-trip of the main protection. The results show that the protection scheme proposed is characterized by its adaptability, coordination between intelligent switches and protection devices, high selectivity and short operation time. © 2011 State Grid Electric Power Research Institute Press.

It is suggested to retrofit the non-integrated automation substation based on IEC61850 to meet the needs of smart grid construction. Only the station level and bay level of substation automation system adopt IEC61850 standard and the devices of monitoring, remote control, protective substation, measuring & control, bus-switchover and low-voltage protection are configured as new substation. The station level applies dual Ethernet based on IEC61850 protocol; the protection substation applies single Ethernet based on IEC61850 protocol; the low-voltage protection, measuring & control device, newly-configured high/medium -voltage protection sends data to monitoring devices via dual net based on IEC61850 protocol; the reserved protective equipments applying RS-485 or Ethernet 103 communication are upgraded by the manufacturers. According to the current status of non-integrated automation substations, it is pointed out that the retrofitting sequence, network equipment, increased AC/DC feeder cabinets and so on should be taken into account.

The T connection transmission line is widely applied in transmission line. But the T connection transmission lines increase complexity of relay protection's design and the setting, the conventional protection is difficult to adapt to the T connection. In the 110 kV T transmission line current differential protection project of Xuchang Xuepo-Weidu-Baling, this paper takes three-terminal current differential protection as the main protection, uses the self-adaptive master-slave location to solve three-terminal data synchronization, and ensures that differential protection will not be lost in any channel fault. It also proposes a new comprehensive impedance protection principle, a new T connection lines fault location technology, and three-terminal differential protection scheme and the configuration to suit T transmission line.

This paper analyzes the two common Ethernet communication technology application modes, one is based on data link layer, and the other is based on TCP/UDP transmission mechanism in IP layer. The paper compares the differences between them, and gives their respective application situation, and conducts an analysis of substation automation system's primary business in view of communication business combining with the application of IEC 60870-104 and IEC60870-103/TCP network technology of CBZ-8000A system. Finally, the development trend of digital and smart substation communications technology such as IEC 61850 is also discussed.

Based on the design criteria for blocking/de-blocking of valve groups, this paper mainly studies the de-blocking/ blocking sequence and control strategies for groups under different circumstances. De-blocking the first group of a pole, simultaneously de-blocking both groups of a pole, and blocking the first group of a pole, simultaneously blocking both groups of a pole can be done the same way as that in a conventional bipolar HVDC scheme. The special coordinated sequence and control strategies for de-blocking the second group of a pole and blocking the last group of a pole are designed. In case of without telecom, de-block of second group of a pole is not recommended. In order to avoid unnecessary spill currents into the shutdown pole, the bypass switches of the blocked group is proposed to be left open.
