In order to improve the communication efficiency and stability of protection relay fault information system (hereinafter referred to as PRFIS), based on the analysis of current situation of PRFIS, this paper puts forward a method of online communication message analysis for PRFIS, via monitoring of communication messages between master station and slave station, analyzing the error of messages, obtaining the reason that causes the error, and raising the way to correct the error. After a period of trial operation, it has been found that the online communication message analysis system can find and analyze some errors of PRFIS, accordingly it improves the communication quality of PRFIS. The characteristics of total vector error (TVE) are analyzed by proceeding from its basic concept. The commonly used amplitude error index and phase error index are compared with the TVE index. The comparison results show that there exists a very intimate relationship between the TVE and the amplitude-phase errors, and the two of them each have their advantages and disadvantages in the static accuracy evaluation of the phasor measurement unit (PMU). So, it is recommended that appropriate evaluation indices be chosen according to the test results and the key contents in the test. This paper introduces the organizations, test objects, participating companies, and the test environment of interoperability (IOP) test held by utility communication architecture (UCA) International User Group in Paris, France in March, 2011. The IOP test consists of 5 parts, namely, network infrastructure, SCL configuration system, client/server, GOOSE and sampled value testing. It summarizes the test items, IOP issues, and conclusions of each type of test. The IOP test proves that the first edition IEC 61850 has preferable IOP, but the SCL files and network configuration should be concerned in the engineering project implementation. Some of the IOP issues need to be revised in the new standard by IEC TC57. At present, there are no mature test methods and mature test tools for relay protection fault information system substation, which brings difficulties for network access test. The automation test system for the development of relay protection fault information system substation is introduced. It combines the basic test case library with substation information to realize the automatic generation of test scheme, the automatic operation of test, and the automatic evaluation of test results. The running results of the site test are analyzed and summarized. The test result indicates that the test system completes a comprehensive test for relay protection fault information system substation, effectively solving the difficulties of network access testing. For the researchers in the field of power system protection, how to study the principles and develop the programs without the actual protection devices and at the same time reduce the development cost and shorten the development cost, the application of IEC 61850 standard has brought chances to this question. This paper elaborates on the new platform of four components: communication protocols and networking, real-time operating systems and network card drivers, RTDS real-time simulation, MATLAB/Simulink graphical modeling protection logic, thus forming the new digital simulation platform based on IEC61850 without the actual protection devices. The 110 kV line distance protection is taken for an example, which verifies that the new platform is real-time and correct. Source
