An important part of power grid voltage stability online intelligent warning system was to research into the current Energy Management System real-time power grid operation parameters and power networks offline data splicing integration, form a set of online dynamic simulation trend data, and implement preventive voltage stability calculation. A splicing model of power grid online data integration and practice was established, and a grid online data splicing method was proposed, which had been verified by actual data. Xinyang power grid is connected from Henan power grid through two 200 kV AC lines in the south. Because of the weak connection, the transient stability limit is 300 MW with 100 MW shortage while the electricity power transmission from Henan main grid to Xinyang. By analyzing the relay protection and switch action time, a method to improve the transmission capacity through determining the practical fault isolation time is discussed. The method can avoid load shedding strategy after contingency and enhance the stability of Xinyang-Henan transmission system, which is a new idea to such problem. Source

Multistage transmission expansion planning (MTEP) problem is a nonlinear and nonconvex optimization problem. The complexity will increase rapidly when the decision variables and the number of the planning stages increase. In this paper, we use an improved plant growth simulation algorithm (PGSA) to solve this problem. Due to the ineffective convergence of the classic PGSA, an optimal growth strategy based on greedy idea is applied to accelerate its convergence. As a result, the optimal solution can be obtained even faster. Then a test is performed on a 19-bus system to verify the practicability and effectiveness of the improved PGSA. Compared with the classic PGSA, it is showed that our algorithm has certain advantages on computation and convergence speed when solving MTEP. © 2014 WIT Press. Source
