Though special nodes play an important role in spreading invasive species, most attempts have focused on modeling the invasive pathway. Few invasion hotspots, such as botanic gardens and greenhouses, as well as their roles in introducing alien species, have been investigated. There are some investigations about the importance of botanic gardens in the biological invasion process, but few centers on the same role that greenhouses play. This study pays more attention on the intermediate role of greenhouses in spreading alien species which can escape into neighboring habitats without appropriate supervision and management. The pest risk analysis and IPM should take greenhouses as a hotspot of invasive network, and more information on invasive species of greenhouse must be recorded and shared. © 2015, Springer Science+Business Media Dordrecht.

We found Rickettsia raoultii DNA in 2 out of 32 (6.25 %) Haemaphysalis erinacei ticks. Result showed that the sequences of five genes (17-kDa, gltA, ompA, rrs, and ompB) were 100 % identity with that of R. Raoultii in GenBank. This study is the first report on the presence of R. raoultii in H. erinacei from wild marbled polecat, Vormela peregusna. Our findings suggest that H. erinacei parasitizing wild marbled polecat may serve as reservoir and carriers for R. raoultii in areas around the China-Kazakhstan border. The transmission of tick-borne diseases originated from wildlife should not be underestimated in border region. © 2015 Guo et al.

The copper matte and copper-bearing sintering materials were decomposed by hydrochloric acid and nitric acid at low temperature. Then, the content of silver was determined by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) and flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). Based on the characteristics of these materials, the effect of sample dissolution conditions, coexisting elements and matrix on determination of silver was investigated. Meanwhile, the accuracy, precision and detection limit of method were discussed. The experimental results showed that the determination results of silver in imported copper matte and copper-bearing sintering materials by these two methods had no significant difference. These two methods had high accuracy and precision. The recoveries of standard addition of ICP-AES and FAAS were 94%-101% and 96%-108%, respectively. The relative standard deviations (RSD) were less than 3.4%.

The spectrophotometric method was used to determine polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) content in paper. Paper sample was extracted by hot water, the complex with blue-green color was produced by the reaction of PVA and iodine in the presence of boric acid, and the absorbance of this blue-green solution was measured at 690 nm. This paper discussed the influences of DP (degree of polymerization) and DH (degree of hydrolysis) of PVA on maximum absorption wavelength, and proposed the method of eliminating starch interference caused by starch-iodine complex, and analyzed the effect of matrix solution on the working curve. ©, 2014, China Technical Association of Paper Industry. A method for determination of mercury (Hg) in metallurgical wastewater from ion exchange process by microwave digestion hydride generation-atomic fluorescence spectrometry (HG-AFS) is described in this study. The operation parameters are shown as follows: 270 V of negative high pressure, 30 A of lamp current, 10 g/L of the KBH4 concentration and 5% of the HCl concentration. The recovery is 97.82%-100.27% with detection limit and correlative coefficient as 0.032 μg/L and 0.9997, respectively. The average precision (RSD) is around 1.01%-2.25%. This method with high accurateness and low detection limit is suitable for the determination of Hg in metallurgical wastewater from ion exchange process. ©, 2015, China National Chemical Information Center. An ultra performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometric method (UPLC-MS/MS) was established for the simultaneous determination of imidacloprid, carbendazim, thiophanate-methyl, propamocarb, methomyl and dimethomorph residues in tomato paste. The samples were extracted by methanol-water (1:1, v/v) containing 0.1%(v/v) acetic acid. The separation was performed on a Waters Acquity UPLC system with a BEH C18 column with the gradient elution of methanol and water (containing 10 mmol/L ammonium acetate). The six pesticides were determined in the modes of electrospray positive ionization (ESI+) and multiple reaction monitoring (MRM). The analytes were quantified by matrix-matched standard solution, and the calibration curves showed good linearity within the concentrations of 0.005 to 0.2 mg/L and the correlation coefficients (r) were more than 0.995. The average recoveries of the six pesticides ranged from 66.8% to 102.9% in the three spiked levels of 0.02, 0.05 and 0.2 mg/kg. The relative standard deviations (RSDs) were all less than 15%. The limits of quantification (LOQ, S/N>10) were 0.02 mg/kg for the all analytes. The results indicate that the method is easier, faster, more sensitive, and suitable for the qualitative and quantitative confirmation of the six pesticide residues from tomato paste.

With the increase in number of the genetically modified (GM) crops authorized worldwide and specific labeling legislation established by many countries, a reliable and efficient method for routine screening of raw material or processed food products needs to be developed. In this paper, a quadruplex quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) system is described which allows simultaneous detection of one tomato endogenous gene and three most frequently used transgenic elements in GM products: cauliflower mosaic virus 35S promoter, Agrobacterium tumefaciens nopaline synthase terminator, and neomycin phosphotransferase II gene. The specificities of the assays are optimized and validated. In the quadruplex qPCR system, the detection ranges for all of the four genes were determined to be 8-80,000 copies per reaction. Finally, the established detection system was applied in amplification of exogenous and endogenous genes from 33 raw materials and 35 processed products samples. The results indicate that quadruplex qPCR method is feasible for screening of GM tomato products, even for some processed food. As this detection system could be easily applied to the detection of transgenic elements in other plant species, we expect it will meet the challenges of routine GM crop detection resulting from a rapid increase in the number of GM crops in the future. © 2014 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

A rapid qualitative and quantitative analytical method was developed for the simultaneous determination of 14 heterocyclic aromatic amines (HAAs) in wine by liquid chromatography-ion trap-time of flight tandem mass spectrometry (LC-IT-TOF MS). HAAS were extracted from the samples by ethyl acetate under alkaline condition. The quantitation was carried out using internal standard method. The Separation of HAAs was carried out based on Phenomenex Kinetex C18 100A column l00 mm ×2.1mm; 2. 6μm with a gradient elution of acetonitrile and 30 mmol/L ammonium formate at a flow rate of 0. 4 mL/min. The analytes were detected under positive-ion electrospray ionization mode. The results showed that the linear ranges of the 14 HAAs were 1-500 μg/L with limits of detection signal/noise = 3 of 0. 33-1. 77 μg/L. The average recoveries of all the compounds spiked in wine samples at three levels of 10 50 100μg Were in the ranges of 71. 6%-96 4%, 72.9%-101 9%>74 5%-103 3%>with the corresponding relative standard deviations RSDs, n = 6 of 2.9%-7.9%1.7%-5.3%1.8%-4.8%>respectively. The established method is simple; rapid; accurate; and has wide linear range and high sensitivity. It can be applied to the simultaneous analysis of the HAAs in wine.
