Ore sample, pretreated at 650°C, was decomposed with aqua regia. Gold in the sample solution was then pre-concentrated by adsorbing with polyurethane foam plastic, released with thiourea solution, and determined by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry and flame atomic absorption spectrometry. Based on the characteristic of the copper matte and sinter containing copper, the effects of sample dissolving condition, matrix effect and interference of coexisting elements were investigated. The accuracy, precision and detection limit were discussed. The results of test show that both of the two methods were suitable for determining the contents of gold in copper matte and sintered copper material. Source

The copper matte and copper-bearing sintering materials were decomposed by hydrochloric acid and nitric acid at low temperature. Then, the content of silver was determined by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) and flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). Based on the characteristics of these materials, the effect of sample dissolution conditions, coexisting elements and matrix on determination of silver was investigated. Meanwhile, the accuracy, precision and detection limit of method were discussed. The experimental results showed that the determination results of silver in imported copper matte and copper-bearing sintering materials by these two methods had no significant difference. These two methods had high accuracy and precision. The recoveries of standard addition of ICP-AES and FAAS were 94%-101% and 96%-108%, respectively. The relative standard deviations (RSD) were less than 3.4%. Source

The spectrophotometric method was used to determine polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) content in paper. Paper sample was extracted by hot water, the complex with blue-green color was produced by the reaction of PVA and iodine in the presence of boric acid, and the absorbance of this blue-green solution was measured at 690 nm. This paper discussed the influences of DP (degree of polymerization) and DH (degree of hydrolysis) of PVA on maximum absorption wavelength, and proposed the method of eliminating starch interference caused by starch-iodine complex, and analyzed the effect of matrix solution on the working curve. ©, 2014, China Technical Association of Paper Industry. With the increase in number of the genetically modified (GM) crops authorized worldwide and specific labeling legislation established by many countries, a reliable and efficient method for routine screening of raw material or processed food products needs to be developed. In this paper, a quadruplex quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) system is described which allows simultaneous detection of one tomato endogenous gene and three most frequently used transgenic elements in GM products: cauliflower mosaic virus 35S promoter, Agrobacterium tumefaciens nopaline synthase terminator, and neomycin phosphotransferase II gene. The specificities of the assays are optimized and validated. In the quadruplex qPCR system, the detection ranges for all of the four genes were determined to be 8-80,000 copies per reaction. Finally, the established detection system was applied in amplification of exogenous and endogenous genes from 33 raw materials and 35 processed products samples. The results indicate that quadruplex qPCR method is feasible for screening of GM tomato products, even for some processed food. As this detection system could be easily applied to the detection of transgenic elements in other plant species, we expect it will meet the challenges of routine GM crop detection resulting from a rapid increase in the number of GM crops in the future. © 2014 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg. Though special nodes play an important role in spreading invasive species, most attempts have focused on modeling the invasive pathway. Few invasion hotspots, such as botanic gardens and greenhouses, as well as their roles in introducing alien species, have been investigated. There are some investigations about the importance of botanic gardens in the biological invasion process, but few centers on the same role that greenhouses play. This study pays more attention on the intermediate role of greenhouses in spreading alien species which can escape into neighboring habitats without appropriate supervision and management. The pest risk analysis and IPM should take greenhouses as a hotspot of invasive network, and more information on invasive species of greenhouse must be recorded and shared. © 2015, Springer Science+Business Media Dordrecht.
