TC4ELI ingot, after forging and rolling to φ18 mm rod, rolling deformation of 91.6%;then quenching at 830℃. Finally, annealing 650℃, 750℃ for 1 h, 2 h. The results show that the highest tensile strength (1064 MPa) of the alloy is obtained under the condition of quenching, while the yield ratio is only 0.79. The yield strength and tensile strength of the alloy are improved due to the martensitic transformation. The metastable phase transformation during in the tensile test process result to the elongation of the alloy increases. After rolling, the best combination properties with tensile strength of 1017 MPa, yield ratio of 0.94 and elongation of 17.5% are obtained at the condition of water quenching and heated at 650℃ for 1 h. ©, 2015, Editorial Office of Transactions of Materials and Heat Treatment. TC4 wires of Φ4.0 mm, Φ3.6 mm, Φ3.0 mm, and Φ2.8 mm were welded via TIG welding, then were drawn to Φ2.6 mm, the drawing deformation was 13.8%, 19%, 24.9% and 57.8%, respectively. The mechanical properties between the solder and base metal were analysed. The results showed that the drawing deformation of 13.8% and 19% lead to brittle fracture; while there was no brittle fracture in the sample with the drawing deformation of 24.9%, but the elongation was only 5.5%; drawing deformation of 57.8% showed good strength and ductility, the tensile strength was 1060 MPa, and the elongation was 14%, microhardness was 311 HV0.3. Drawing after welding could improve the property of solder metal, with the increase of drawing deformation, and the impact of welding was gradual elimination. Therefore, to ensure the properties of welded metal after hot drawing, there should be enough drawing deformation. Source
