A prototype of certain pyrotechnic separation device was designed by using one-way memory effect of Ti-Ni shape memory alloy. The separation process of pyrotechnic separation device and the minimum phase transition current of the memory alloy were analyzed, and the experiment of its unlocking principle was also done. The results show that the shape memory alloys allow a separation process with no noise, time delay and load driving effect, fulfilling the unlocking requirements of low noise and light overload of the device. This research provides a new way to the design of low-noise and low-overload pyrotechnic separation device and a new special-function energetic material to EED.
