In this paper, through the monitoring case on the mechanical characteristics of the circuit breaker in service operation, analyzed the problems such as when the circuit breaker is in the running process whether is abnormal, potential faults or defect types, the potential fault parts, etc, and had a maintenance to the products with potential failures that may endanger the operation, and verified the potential fault diagnosis by the actual products. This paper uses the advanced on-line monitoring system of high voltage circuit breaker for monitoring circuit breaker closing and opening motions and current waveform of closing and opening coil, to obtain spring running state and monitoring the spring fatigue performance at any time. It solves the problem that the spring which is most important component of operating mechanism is difficult to monitoring in the running status. Meanwhile, we can determine common fault from the current waveform of closing/opening coil, such as whether the coil is binding or auxiliary switch is failures and so on. It provides effective guarantee of reliable safety runs for circuit breakers. © 2014 IEEE. Source

The contact welding of the vacuum interrupter during closing operation may cause rejecting open operation and even interrupter burst, which belongs to fatal fault. In this paper, based on the experimental results, the match between the mechanism's output characteristics and the load characteristics is a critical influencing factor on the contact welding of the vacuum interrupter during closing operation. The influencing factors on the output characteristics of spring operation mechanism of vacuum circuit breaker are analyzed. The output characteristics of vacuum circuit breaker are crucially affected by the track of cam contour and the angles between four-bar linkage of transmission mechanism. To achieve a good matching of mechanism output characteristics and load characteristics of circuit breaker by optimizing the track of cam contour and the angles between transmission mechanism's four-bar linkage, the problem of the contact welding when circuit breaker making the short circuit current is solved. A combination method of simulation and test data to solve the material parameters was raised, with the certain material parameters a new type of connecting rod of disconnector was analyzed. Material's Young modulus and Poisson's ratio was obtained by using the existing connecting rod of disconnector. The model of new type of connecting rod of disconnector was made by the software of Solidworks. The finite element software of Ansys Workbench was used to carry out linear static structural analysis.
