A new centralized wide area automatic switchover system based on dispatching automation system is proposed. The software architecture and functional implementation are introduced, including the automatic switchover modeling, network monitoring, acting conditions judging, locking conditions judging and sequence controlling modules. Meanwhile, characteristics and field operations of the system are analyzed. The system can overcome the limitations of the traditional automatic switchover device effectively, and can make full use of dispatching automation system's information collecting and network analysis functions from the point of view of the whole power grid. The proposed system can not only replace the existing automatic switchover device, but also can be a useful addition to it. © 2010 State Grid Electric Power Research Institute Press. Source

Along with the structural miniaturization and three-phase-in-one tank of GIS, the electrical performance of disk-type insulator in GIS becomes more important for designers. We calculated the three dimensional electric field intensity and potential distribution of disk-type insulator in GIS by FEM, and analyzed the electric field distribution on protruding surface and concave surface. The maximum of electric field intensity was found under different working voltage. The main factors affecting internal insulation and surface insulation of GIS and the effect of related structure parameters on electric field distribution were obtained by analyzing the computation results. Thereby, structure optimization for disk-type insulator was implemented by solving the related inverse problem. The numerical analysis results can propose the advice and theory support for engineering practice. Source

The current status of 20 kV line protection is introduced first. Then focusing on neutral low resistance grounding power system the advantages and disadvantages as well as the applicable scope of zero-sequence over current protection and zero-sequence power directional protection are analyzed. With the results of theoretical study and laboratory fault tests, the problem of single-phase high-impedance grounding faults causing line protective relay miss-operation is further discussed. At last, based on simulation analysis, technical measures are provided to improve the protective relay operation performance for single-phase high-impedance grounding faults. ©2010 State Grid Electric Power Research Institute Press. The substation configuration language defined in the IEC 61850 is used to describe the primary system topology, function topology as well as communication topology of the overall substation. An expert system of automatic interlocking schemes generation for digital substations is proposed. The expert system takes the SCD file as its input, and extracts the primary system topology from the file. The expert system development platform-CLIPS, is used as the inference engine. The object-oriented knowledge paradigm is adopted in the system. The knowledge base is independent of the inference engine, and the control rules are independent of the domain rules as well, which make the expert system more adaptive and simple to maintain. The tests using many typical primary system topologies demonstrate the correctness and feasibility of the proposed expert system. Source
