CFD method was used to analyze the flow and temperature fields of cooler obtain the cooler's exhaust gas flow field, its temperature field and coolant's flow field. By modifying the structure of the inlet pipe, the problem of EGR cooler inlet's turbulence and tube's gas distribution were solved. Results show that using the primary scheme is hard to meet the requirement of enhanced cooling, and increase in size and number of cooling pipe is necessary. Various cooler's structures were proposed for the cooler design of this series.
