The beneficial effects on meat quality of adding vitamin E to diets have been extensively studied in cattle and lamb. However, how supplemental vit E affects the performance and meat quality of 'Tan' sheep has not been reported. Thirtyfive male lambs of 'Tan' sheep (20-30 d after weaning) with similar body weight were randomly divided into five groups of seven each to receive a basal diet plus five levels of vit E supplementation: 0 (control group, CG), 20, 100, 200, and 2000 IU d-1 lamb-1. The results showed: 1) no differences were observed in animal growth performance between CG and vit E treated groups (VG) (P > 0.05); 2) vit E supplementation levels over 200 IU d-1 lamb-1 dramatically suppressed subcutaneous fat deposition and similarly that above 100 IU d-1 lamb-1 considerably reduced drip loss and pH 24 h of Longissimus dorsi (LD) muscle in VG lambs compared to those of CG (P < 0.01), but with no significant effect on other carcass characteristics (P > 0.05); 3) although vit E supplementation generally did not affect the fatty acid composition of intramuscular lipids in LD muscle, the percentage of n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) and the ratio of n-6/n-3 PUFA were significantly enhanced (P < 0.05) and an increasing tendency (P < 0.1) for both total PUFA proportion and the ratio of PUFA/saturated fatty acids (SFA) was also observed in 'Tan' sheep lambs treated with vit E. In conclusion, vit E supplementation of male 'Tan' sheep lambs did not influence growth performance, significantly reduced subcutaneous fat deposition, drip loss, pH 24 h and tended to improve fatty acid profile of LD muscle.

Three ruminally cannulated Holstein cows in late lactation were used in a complete randomized experiment to compare runimal and rectal sampling sites for estimating digesta passage kinetics in the rumen of lactating Holstein cows. The experimental diets were consisted of chopped com stalk and concentrate, for which the ratio of forage to concentrate was 55:45. Chromium-mordanted hay (Cr-NDF) was used as particulate marker and Cobalt-Ethylenediamine Tetraacetic Acid (Co-EDTA) as a liquid-phase marker and they were administered by one-time infusion through rumen cannulae to determine passage rates of the particulate (kp) and liquid (k1) phases from the rumen and rectum, respectively. Both rumen contents and faecal samples were collected to analyze Cr and Co concentration. Then, the fractional digesta passage rates were calculated by linear regression of natural log transformed Cr and Co concentrations in ruminal content or faeces. The results were showed as follows: fractional passage rates of solid and liquid digesta measured directly in the rumen were 0.0411/h and 0.112/h whereas they were 0.0387/h and 0.0573/h when calculated from the faecal Cr and Co concentration curves. The correlation equation between the fractional passage rates of liquid digesta from the rumen and rectum is y(r) = 2.0141x(f) - 0.00399, R2 = 0.9966, p = 0.037 [y(r): Passage rate of liquid digesta measured directly in the rumen, x(f): Passage rate of liquid digesta calculated from the faecal Co concentration curve]. The correlation equation between the fractional passage rates of solid digesta from the rumen and rectum is y(r) = 0.3535 x(f) + 0.02743, R2 = 0.8326, p = 0.27 [y(r): Passage rate of solid digesta measured directly in the rumen, x(f): Passage rate of solid digesta calculated from the faecal Cr concentration curve]. Results suggest that measuring marker concentration curves in rectum always results in a considerable underestimation of the digesta passage rates from the rumen, however, the digesta passage rates from the rumen can be predicted by faecal marker concentration curves derived from the rectal sampling to some extent especially for liquid passage rate of digesta from the rumen in dairy cows. © Medwell Journals, 2013.

Message verification is important for information security, and the hash-based algorithm is a kind of implementation method. In this paper, we propose a circuit implementation scheme to realize message verification, which is based on SHA1, called HMAC-SHA1. In our scheme, the MD5 circuit module is reusable such that the circuit size is reduced and the processing speed is improved. Finally, we use VeriIogHDL to picture the circuit structure and implant it into FPGA to do experiments. © 2016 IEEE.

The shift easily occurs in the mold making and mold assembling during the production of high-chrome cast ball of ball mill by stack casting, which make rejection rate and defective rate higher. To guarantee the upper and lower mold centering, reduce the shift quantity farthest, and eliminate the rejection and defective rate, effective measures that make mold centering were put forward. The high costs of machining were reduced in the design of processing technology. In order to develop a method for rapid detection of total potassium content in leaf of maize, electrical impedance measuring method was used to collect the electrical impedance parameter of the leaf tissue juice under different potassium levels, and the relationship between impedance value and total potassium content of the leaf were investigated. Using stepwise regression method to choose the sensitive frequency for the total potassium content, every regression model included two sensitive frequencies based on which the linear regression equation was the best with the correlation coefficient of 0.83 at least and root mean squared error of 0.16 at most for four growth periods respectively. Therefore, it was demonstrated that impedance value could be a predictor for maize leaf potassium content. Electrical impedance measuring technology could be an available method for potassium fertilizer recommendation in crop.
