Purpose: To develop an in situ gel system comprising liposome-containing paclitaxel (PTX) dispersed within the thermoreversible gel (Pluronic® F127 gel) for controlled release and improved antitumor drug efficiency. Methods: The dialysis membrane and membrane-less diffusion method were used to investigate the in vitro drug release behavior. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) thermal analysis was used to investigate the "micellization" and "sol/gel transition" process of in situ gel systems. In vitro cytotoxicity and drug uptake in KB cancer cells were determined by MTT, intercellular drug concentration, and fluorescence intensity assay. Results: The in vitro release experiment performed with a dialysis membrane model showed that the liposomal gel exhibited the longest drug-release period compared with liposome, general gel, and commercial formulation Taxol®. This effect is presumably due to the increased viscosity of liposomal gel, which has the effect of creating a drug reservoir. Both drug and gel release from the in situ gel system operated under zero-order kinetics and showed a correlation of release of PTX with gel, indicating a predominating release mechanism of the erosion type. Dispersing liposomes into the gel replaced larger gel itself for achieving the same gel dissolution rate. Both the critical micelle temperature and the sol/gel temperature, detected by DSC thermal analysis, were shifted to lower temperatures by adding liposomes. The extent of the shifts depended on the amount of embedded liposomes. MTT assay and drug uptake studies showed that the treatment with PTX-loaded liposomal 18% Pluronic F127 yielded cytotoxicities, intercellular fluorescence intensity, and drug concentration in KB cells much higher than that of conventional liposome, while blank liposomal 18% Pluronic F127 gel was far less than the Cremophor EL® vehicle and empty liposomes. Conclusions: A thermosensitive hydrogel with embedded liposome is a promising carrier for hydrophobic anticancer agents, to be used in parenteral formulations for treating local cancers. © 2011 Nie et al, publisher and licensee Dove Medical Press Ltd.

The ytterbium(III) extraction kinetics by 2-ethylhexylphosphonic acid mono-(2-ethylhexyl) ester (HEHEHP) in the presence of isooctanol have been investigated using constant interfacial cell with laminar flow. The stoichiometry of the complex formation reaction between the ytterbium(III) and HEHEHP in the presence of isooctanol had been evaluated. The extraction kinetics data had been analyzed in terms of pseudo-first order constants. From the temperature dependence of rate measurement, the values of Ea, ΔH and ΔS were calculated and it was found that the extraction process was a diffusion-controlled kinetics process with an interfacial reaction. The rate-determining step was made by predictions derived from interfacial reaction models, and through the approximate solutions of the flux equation, diffusion parameters and thickness of the diffusion film have been calculated. © 2009 Elsevier B.V. In this paper, based on the neural network, the concept of Elman memory, and proposed an improved algorithm of Elman neural network, the realization of network intrusion detection. The extraction behavior of samarium(III) with mixtures of bis(2,4,4-trimethylpentyl) phosphinic acid (Cyanex272, H 2A 2) and 8-hydroxyquinoline (HQ) in heptane has been investigated from chloride medium. The mixtures are proved to have higher selectivity when applied to the extraction of the samarium compared with single extractant, the largest synergistic enhancement factor can be calculated to be 233 at pH 4.0. The results show that Sm 3+ is extracted into heptane as Sm(OH) 2Q(HA) 2(o) or Sm(OH) 2Q(HQ) 4(HA) 2(o) with synergistic mixture. The equilibrium constants have been determined. The result shows that the synergistic extraction system not only shows perfect capacity of synergistic extraction, but also overcomes emulsification of 8-hydroxyquinoline. © 2012 Elsevier B.V. Data mining is use of machine learning, statistical learning from the data mining technology found in. In view of the current sports training problems, and discusses the data mining technology in the application of sports training theory, and through the key neural network method to forecast the athlete's performance in the application. Studies were carried out on the extraction characters of trivalent rare earths from chloride solutions using organophosphorus acids 2- ethylhexylphosphonic acid mono-(2-ethylhexyl) ester (HEHEHP) combined with [di-(2-ethylhexyl)-phosphoric acid (HDEHP), isopropylphosphonic acid 1-hexyl-4-ethyloctyl ester (HHEOIPP), bis(2,4,4-trimethylpentyl)-phosphinic acid (Cyanex 272), bis(2,4,4-trimethypentyl)-monothiophosphinic acid (Cyanex 302) or bis(2,4,4-trimethypentyl)-dithiophosphinic acid (Cyanex 301)] as extractants. The effect of the equilibrium aqueous acidity on the extraction was studied. According to the corresponding separation factors for adjacent pairs of rare earths, it could be concluded that HEHEHP and Cyanex 272 could be employed for the separation of Tm(III), Yb(III), Lu(III) from the other rare earths. Taking Yb(III) as an example, based on the different stripping acid, the potential of the stripping was estimated. © 2011 The Chinese Society of Rare Earths.

The thermal behavior of dry solid ascorbic acid in nitrogen atmosphere in the temperature range of 25-800°C was investigated by TG-FTIR. During the thermal decomposition process, five evolved gaseous species, including H2O, CO2, CO, CH4 and HCOOH, were identified and monitored, in which HCOOH was detected for the first time. The results indicated that ascorbic acid began to decompose at 191°C. Its decomposition process consisted of three stages, and dehydration and decarboxylation to form furfural were the possible principal mechanism. The kinetic analysis for the first decomposition stage was also carried out by the isoconversional method and the master plots method. The results indicated that this process can be described by the model of 1st order reaction. © 2013 Elsevier B.V.

To select the best extraction of oleanolic acid from leaves of Chaenomeles speciosa and processing techniques of its HP-beta-cyclodextrin (HP-beta-CD) inclusion compound. The study was carried out with orthogonal experiment. Ultrasonic treatment time, extraction time, temperature of extraction and ratio of material to liquor were used as indices. The optimum inclusion technique was chosen by determining the oleanolic acid-bearing rate. The processing techniques of the HP-beta-CD inclusion compound was optimized by taking the ratio of HP-beta-CD to oleanolic acid, the time and temperature of the inclusion process as factors and with the yield of the inclusion compound and the inclusion rate of the volatile oil as the indices. The optimal process for oleanolic acid extraction were as following: ultrasonic treatment time as 40 min, extraction time as 70 min, temperature of extraction as 60 degrees C, ratio of material to liquor as 1:10. The optimal processing conditions for HP-beta-CD inclusion compound of oleanolic acid were as following: the ratio of HP-beta-CD to oleanolic acid was 1:2, the inclusion time of the compound was 3.0 hours at 60 degrees C. High extraction yield of oleanolic acid and stable inclusion compound can be obtained using the above method.
