Objectives: To assess the clinical effectiveness of laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) versus laser epithelial keratomileusis (LASEK) for the correction of myopia. Methods: Randomised controlled trials (RCTs) were searched in PubMed, EMbase, The Cochrane Library (Issue 2, 2010), CNKI, VIP, and WangFang Data from January, 1990 to October, 2010. The RCTs were included in accordance with the Cochrane review's methodology, the valid data were extracted, the quality was evaluated, and then the RevMan 5.0 software was used for statistical analyses. Results: Seven RCTs involving 1 134 eyes with myopia were included. The results of meta-analyses showed that the efficacy (OR=1.23, 95%CI 0.73 to 2.07), accuracy (OR=1.73, 95%CI 0.74 to 2.53) and safety (OR=1.10, 95%CI 0.22 to 5.59) outcomes between LASIK and LASEK were comparable. Compared with LASIK, LASEK was higher in the incidence rate of postoperative eye pain (RR=0.13, 95%CI 0.08 to 0.22). Conclusion: LASIK and LASEK have the same effectiveness for myopia, but LASEK induces more postoperative eye pains. A large number of strictly-designed multi-centred RCTs are required for further verifying this result because of the low quality and instable results of the included studies. © 2011 Editorial Board of Chin J Evid-based Med.

As an effective texture description operator, local binary patterns (LBP) has the advantages of low computation complexity, low memory consumption and clear principle. Damper-Shafter evidence theory satisfies the conditions weaker than Bayesian probability theory and can directly express states of "uncertain" and "don't know". To exploit the advantages of above two concepts, a new texture recognition method is proposed. Firstly, the approach computes image pyramid and uses the distributions of multi-scale LBP to measure the similarity between two texture images. Secondly, the method combines the similarity measurement between the test texture and each training sample to combine the information given by each training sample. Finally, the recognition result is determined by the maximum evidence among different texture classes. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves a correction rate of 96.43%, and 91.67%, for data set 1 and data set 2, respectively, outperforming the original LBP based texture recognition algorithm. ©2014 ISCAS.

The principles and methods of precise trigonometric leveling technology are introduced. Then effects of high altitude mountain atmospheric refraction on trigonometric leveling are analyzed and corresponding solutions are proposed to combine with the actual situation of high altitude mountain. The best practice sessions are developed based on job experience in high altitude mountain. The effects of temperature and pressure on trigonometric leveling are analyzed and elaborated from the quantitative by being combined with parameters of measuring instrument and related mathematical models. The feasibility of the application of precise trigonometric leveling substitute second leveling is validated by engineering data.
