Voids (32) in the discontinuous bonding layer (31) provide fluid interconnection between the apertures (27) and the drain passages (24). A replaceable screen member (33) is releasably secured at an inner ring frame (22) and an outer ring frame (36) of the screen body (12).

A coupling pin for use in a pump housing, the pump housing including an outer casing and an inner pump liner, the coupling pin being suitable for locating the liner and casing relative to one another, the coupling pin including a shank and a head at one end of the shank. The head includes a cammed surface thereon which is adapted to co-operate with a follower on the liner, and a locating section on a remote or terminal end of the head which is adapted to be positioned against a seat in the outer casing when fitted. The arrangement is such that rotation of the coupling pin causes the follower to track along the cammed surface so as to cause relative movement between the outer casing and the inner pump liner.

A centrifugal pump impeller (40) includes front and back shrouds (50, 51) and a plurality of pumping vanes (42) therebetween, each pumping vane having a leading edge (43) in the region of an impeller inlet (48) and a trailing edge (44), the front shroud has an arcuate inner face in the region of the impeller inlet, the arcuate inner face having a radius of curvature (R_(s)) in the range from 0.05 to 0.16 of the outer diameter of the impeller (D_(2)). The back shroud includes an inner main face and a nose having a curved profile with a nose apex in the region of the central axis which extends towards the front shroud, there being a curved transition region between the inner main face and the nose. I_(nr) is the radius of curvature of the curved profile of the nose and the ratio I_(nr)/D_(2) is from 0.17 to 0.22. Other ratios of various dimensions of the impeller are also described.
