A shifting tool for use in a wellbore includes a tubular housing having a bore formed therethrough; a tubular mandrel disposed in the housing and longitudinally movable relative thereto; and an engagement member moveable relative to the housing between an extended position, a released position, and a retracted position, wherein: the engagement member is movable from the retracted position to the extended position in response to movement of the mandrel relative to the housing, and the engagement member is further movable from the extended position to the released position in response to movement of the mandrel relative to the housing.


A rotating control device housing includes an upper riser flange; a lower riser flange; a latch section for receiving a bearing assembly and connected to the upper riser flange; a port section connected to the latch section by a flanged connection, having an outlet for discharging fluid flow diverted by the bearing assembly, and connected to the lower riser flange; and a jumper connected to the upper and lower riser flanges.

The exemplary embodiments relate to misalignment correction devices and methods for mitigating misalignment of a piece of oilfield equipment in or proximate an RCD. A rounded shoulder appears on a first surface within or proximate the RCD, and a socket profile appears on a second surface within or proximate the RCD. The second surface is configured to abut the rounded shoulder. The rounded shoulder is configured to rotate within the socket profile. Further, a floating joint may be implemented into or proximate the RCD and combined with the foregoing rotation mitigation features.

The exemplary embodiments relate to apparatus and methods for increasing the longevity of an RCD at a wellbore, including a bearing assembly configured for operating in the RCD. The bearing assembly is configured for reducing pressure proximate the bearing assembly including reducing pressure in a radial seal. Top and bottom seals are mounted against a wear sleeve adjacent to an inner member housed within the bearing assembly. The wear sleeve is configured to be sealed by the top seal and the bottom seal as the inner member rotates in the RCD. A pressure reduction system mounted with the RCD is configured to apply pressure via a wellbore pressure between the top seal and the bottom seal, which is lower relative to a pressure above the top seal, and which is higher relative to a pressure below the bottom seal.

Methods and apparatus are provided for regulating a pressure in a wellbore by including multiple stages of pressure regulation in a casing to gradually change the pressure in the casing. For example, a method of regulating a pressure of a fluid in a wellbore includes positioning a tubular equipped with a first float assembly having a first unidirectional valve and a second float assembly having a second unidirectional valve, wherein each of the first and second unidirectional valves include an inlet and an outlet; and reducing a pressure differential across the first unidirectional valve when a pressure at the outlet is higher than a pressure at the inlet by a predetermined amount.
