Four N-(2,4-dinitrophenyl)-N'-(substituted-phenyl)hydrazones (substituent R=H, o-OCH3, o-Cl and o-OH) were synthesized as absorption spectral chemosensors for receptors. The binding properties of these receptors with anions such as F- and AcO- in CH3CN were investigated by UV-visible absorption spectroscopy. Results showed that a distinct color change occurred from yellow to light yellow upon addition of F- and AcO-. Substituent was found to exert influence on the spectral response sensitivity and selectivity, with receptor 2 bearing an o-OCH3 substituent showing the highest selectivity and good sensitivity for F-. Job plots indicated a 1:1 anion binding stoichiometry of the receptors, for which a hydrogen bonding interaction was identified from the 1H NMR titrations and the effect of competitive solvent MeOH on anion binding. As a distinct solution color change occurs it is possible to detect anions such as fluoride by naked eyes.

Based on the 1987, 1997, and 2007 distribution maps of wetland landscape in coastal zone of Yancheng, and with the support of GIS technology, the temporal changes of Grus japonensis suitable wintering habitat in the zone were analyzed, taking the food richness, water resources, shelter condition, human activities, least-patch area, and distance of daily activities as the assessment factors of habitat suitability, and the habitat evaluation model as the assessment procedure. In 1987-2007, due to the great changes of habitat type and the landscape fragmentation, the total area of wetlands in the zone reduced by 27.6%, and the habitat quality suitable for G. japonensis declined significantly. The habitat area condition suitable for G. japonensis reduced from 2354.36 km2 in 1987 to 1100.13 km2 in 2007, accounting for 51.6% and 24.1% of the total habitat area, respectively. With increasing human disturbance and wetland landscape fragmentation, the proportion of suitable habitat for G. japonensis decreased from 28.2% in 1987 to 13.5% in 2007, and its area decreased from 1286.05 km2 to 614.95 km2.

Three 2-hydroxy naphthaldehyde phenyl hydrazone derivatives were designed and synthesized[1-3; substituent R: H(1), p-NO2(2), 2, 4-d-NO2(3)]. The interaction between as-synthesized compounds and anions was investigated by means of UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy, and the effects of the affinity and selectivity of receptors to anions were also studied by changing the N'-substituted groups of benzene ring. The results show that absorption spectra of receptors were red-shifted significantly in acetonitrile solution containing F- and CH3COO-, and a clear color change was observed from yellow to blue or red in acetonitrile solution. The receptor molecule 2 has high selectivity and sensitivity response to F- and will promise to a good sensing molecule in detection of F- by naked eye. The recognition selectivity of receptor molecule 3 to anion could be changed through adding water in acetonitrile solution, and receptor molecule 3 only recognizes F- in 5%H2O-95% CH3CN(volume fraction) solution. So receptor molecule 3 is expected to become a new system which can recognize F- by naked eyes in aqueous solution.
