Impact of implant dentistry is such that today very few dentists think about saving grade III mobile anterior teeth.A patient with grade III mobility of central incisor due to apical root resorption was treated by using 80 no.stainless steel ‘H’ file as endostabiliser and one year follow up was done. Endostabiliser reduced the mobility of grade III mobile teeth drastically, immediately after its placement. Aim: To compare the tongue position of normal and open bite subjects at rest and to study if there is any difference in the hyoid bone and posterior pharyngeal wall positions in normal and open bite subjects.Materials and Methods: Sample size consisted of 48 individuals with 24 subjects having normal occlusion and 24 subjects having open bite malocclusion within the age range of 16 to 25 y. Standardized Lateral cephalograms were taken for all the subjects. The subjects were asked to protrude their tongue as much as possible. The dorsum of the tongue was then coated with a palatable suspension of Barium Sulphate (MICROBAR). The subjects were asked to swallow on command, after 10 sec of the swallow, lateral cephalograms were taken.Statistical Analysis: t-test.Results: The antero-posterior relationship of maxilla and mandible to the cranial base is normal in both the groups.The open bite subjects had a larger over jet and as compared to the normal subjects, and had steeper mandibular planes.It was also seen that as the total tongue occupancy area increased so did the partial tongue occupancy area.Conclusion: A significant positive correlation was found between the horizontal position of the tongue tip and the lower incisor position in the normal group, also for the ratio of total tongue area to total oral area & the ratio of upper tongue area to the anterior oral area in the normal and openbite groups. There was no difference in the position of the tongue, hyoid bone and posterior wall in the normal and openbite groups. The mandibular plane angle and palatal plane - mandibular plane angles were found to be larger in the openbite subjects as compared to normal subjects. Supra-eruption of the maxillary molars was seen in the openbite group leading to a downward and backward rotation of the mandible. Purpose: The purpose of this vitro study was to comparatively evaluate the adhesive bonding of dual cured resin luting agents with lithium disilicate ceramic material. Materials and Methods: Porcelain laminate veneers were prepared with lithium disilicate ceramic material i.e. IPS Empress II( E-Max Press). These laminates were bonded with RelyX ARC, Panavia F 2.0, Variolink II, Duolink and Nexus NX3.The porcelain laminates were etched with 9.6% hydrofluoric acid (Pulpdent Corporation) for one minute, washed for 15 sec with three way syringe and dried for 15 sec with air syringe. The silane (Ultradent) was applied with the help of applicator tip in a single coat and kept undisturbed for one minute. The prepared surfaces of the premolars were treated with 37% phosphoric acid (Prime dent) for 15 sec, thoroughly rinsed and dried as per manufactures instructions. The shear bond test was carried out on all samples with the Universal testing machine (Instron U.S.A.) The scanning electron microscopic study was performed at the fractured interface of representative samples from each group of luting agents. Result: In this study, the highest value of shear bond strength was obtained for NEXUS NX3 and the lowest for VARIOLINK II. Conclusion: The difference in bond strength can be interpreted as the difference in fracture resistance of luting agents, to which shearing load was applied during the shear bond strength test. It is inferred from this study that the composition of the luting agent determines the adhesive characteristics in addition to surface treatment and bonding surface area. © 2015, Journal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research.
