This paper suggests the method of utility estimation for certain alternatives based on their pairwise comparison. The pairwise comparison matrix being formed is interpreted as the result of a measurement with random errors. The effect of additions of an organic cationic electrolyte, N,N-dimethyl-N,N-diallylammonium chloride, on the threshold of rapid coagulation, duration of the first coagulation step, and values of the 1-min and maximal turbidity was examined. Water-soluble polymers (poly-N-vinylpyrrolidone, poly-N-vinylcaprolactam, polyethylene glycol) were used for the first time for extraction of phenols from aqueous solutions. The influence exerted by pH of the aqueous solution and kind of the polymer on the degree of recovery of phenol and some of its methyl and nitro derivatives was elucidated. The adsorption of a mixture of highly volatile compounds, vapors found in the equilibrium gas phase of natural fruits and berries, on thin films of adsorbents was studied using a multi-sensor gas analyzer "piezoelectronic nose". Polyethylene glycol adipate, polyethylene glycol sebacate, polystyrene, dicyclohex-ane-18-crown-6 ether were used as sorbents. Changes in the composition of the equilibrium gas phase upon the formation of the aromatic composition of an agar matrix with natural ingredients and the storage and spoilage of the product were revealed. A test method allowing the detection the first signs of the microbiological spoilage of the product was developed to assess the drift in the aroma of jelly confectionery containing various natural fruits (orange, apple), berries (blueberry, blackberry, cowberry, cranberry, sour cherry), and lemon and orange peel. © 2010 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

Boiling temperatures of five binary systems are measured by ebuliometer in the pressure range of 5.333-101.3 kPa. The compositions of equilibrium vapor phases in the systems are calculated using the constructed saturated vapor pressure isotherms as a base. The excess Gibbs energies, excess enthalpies, and excess entropies of solutions are calculated from our data on liquid-vapor equilibria. Regularities in the changes of phase equilibria and thermodynamic properties of solutions with the composition and temperature of the system are established. Vapor-liquid equilibria in the systems are described by the Wilson and NRTL equations. © Pleiades Publishing, Ltd., 2012.

Common regularities in the extraction of vitamins B1, B 2, B6, and B12 from aqueous solutions of polymers (poly-N-vinylpyrrolidone, poly-N-vinylcaprolactam, and polyacrylamide) are studied. The effect of the polymer's concentration and its structure on the distribution coefficients and the degree of extraction of the vitamins is established. Effective systems for extracting B group vitamins from water-salt solutions are developed as a result of screening stable two-phase systems based on water-soluble polymers. © 2011 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
