Sulfamethaxazole and trimethoprim are sulfonamide antibiotic drugs which are used for the treatment of the urinary tract, lungs (pneumonia), ears, and intestinal infections. In present work simple and effective method like simultaneous estimation method has been developed for the estimation of both the drugs in bulk and pharmaceutical dosage forms. The λmax of sulfamethaxazole and trimethoprim are determined as 270nm and 271nm with using the solvent as methanol. From the standard graph it was revealed that the beers limit for both drugs follow the concentration range of 2-10μg/ml and 10-50μg/ml with correlation coefficients of 0.9988 and 0.9989.The analysis work validated for precision and optical characteristics were found satisfactory.

The entire wound healing process is a complex series of events that begins at the moment of injury and can continue for months to years. The objective of present study is to investigate wound healing activity of the chloroform leaf extract of Phyllanthus niruri in albino rats using excision and incision wound models. 200 mg/kg/day of leaf extract of Phyllanthus niruri was evaluated for its wound healing activity and compared with neosporin (standard). The present investigation may be concluded that the plant Phyllanthus niruri is endowed with significantly as followed the 0, 4 th, 8 th, 12 th, 16 th, days i.e. 232.21 ± 5.8 (0 %), 197.8 ± 4.5 (14.85 %), 80.7 ± 4.8 (65.5 %), 15.03 ± 2.9 (91.9 %), 2.9 ± 1.04 (98.8 %) wound healing activity due to the presence active constituents, there by justifying its use in the indigenous system of medicine.

The objective of our study is to investigate wound healing activity of the methanolic leaf extract of Pongamia pinnata in albino rats using excision and incision wound models. 200 mg/kg/day of leaf extract of pongamia pinnata was evaluated for its wound healing activity and compared with povidone iodine (Standard). The present investigation may be concluded that the plant Pongamia pinnata is endowed with significant wound healing activity due to the presence active constituents, there by justifying its use in the indigenous system of medicine.

The present study was carried out to investigate the anti-inflammatory property of petroleum ether, alcoholic and aqueous extracts of spindus mukorossi leaves using experimental animal models. The antiinflammatory activity of the various extracts was studied based on their effects on carrageenan-induced paw oedema and cotton pellet granuloma in rats,.The extracts in dose levels of 50,100 and 200 mg/kg orally were used for anti-inflammatory studies. The ethanol and aqueous extracts of leaves of spindus mukorossi significant (P<0.05) anti-inflammatory activities in a dose-dependent manner to that of standard drug indomethacin, while petroleum ether extract exhibit minimum inhibitory effect in carageenan induced hind paw oedema and cotton pellet granuloma in rats. all the doses used when compared to the control group. The results obtained indicate that the crude leaf extracts of spindus mukorossi possess potent anti-inflammatory by supporting the folkloric usage of the plant to treat various inflammatory conditions.

The present work was evaluated anti-ulcer potential of the ethanol extract of leaf of Lawsonia inermis against in vivo indomethacin- induced gastric ulcer using pylorus ligation method. All the dose of the leaf extract (100, 200 and 400 mg/kg) significantly (P 0.01) reduced the ulcer index in this experiment. In conclusion, the present study provides preliminary data on the antiulcer potential of Trianthema portulacastrum leaf and support the traditional uses of the plant for the treatment of gastric ulcer. © RJPT All right reserved.
