A Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) consists of spatially distributed sensor to monitor physical conditions and pass their data through network to the sink node. Topology control is an important technique used in WSN to achieve energy conservation and extend network lifetime without affecting important network performance such as connectivity and throughput. Topology control can be implemented in following ways: power adjustment technique, power mode technique, clustering technique. In each of these techniques, there are some limitations. To overcome the limitations of the existing schemes, new hybrid scheme is proposed by integrating the above mentioned schemes. It is proved that the proposed hybrid approach excels in the performance compared to the existing schemes in terms of energy savings. © Research India Publications.
