Road extraction from remotely sensed imagery is highly advantageous for fast road updating in Geographic Information System (GIS) data collection. Several techniques proposed in the literature have met with only partial success on account of complexity of time and accuracy. By reducing the process time and improving the extracted details, we have launched, in this research, an efficient method is proposed to extract road region from the satellite images. Proposed method is made up of three phases: In first phase, the S-LEGION is carried out until stopping criterion is met. Here, an efficient seed point selection technique is performed to the leader selection to S-LEGION. Then, instead of putting an end to the process, the results are passed to the GHKF (Phase II) which tends to recognize the continuation of the road after a likely obstacle or to locate all potential road branches that might exist on the other side of a road junction. Finally, if any road segment cannot be extracted by means of phase I and phase II, faze III goes on with the remaining tracking process by means of S-LEGION. Results are offered for three satellite images. Evaluation for the extracted road networks by means of satellite images shows that the accuracy of our tracker range is to the tune of 98.438% in cluster 10 and 15. © Copyright 2016 American Scientific Publishers All rights reserved.

In recent days the power quality problems (PQ) are more produced in power electronic devices and it creates unbalance loading, current harmonics and voltage unbalancing problems due to increase in reactive power. For compensating the reactive power various types of power devices are used. The shunt active power filter (SAPF) is one of the devices that are used for decreasing the PQ. To reduce the PQ problems, the performance of SAPF must be improved. In this paper, a controller is proposed for improving the performance of SAPF and compensating the PQ. The Cuckoo search (CS) algorithm technique which is used to get the reference current for compensating reactive power and reducing the PQ problem. The SAPF is used for reducing the harmonic disturbances. The dc link voltage is maintained as constant by using the proposed controller technique. Subsequently, the FFT analysis is used for measuring THD values of the proposed system. The proposed method is implemented in MATLAB/Simulink and its performance is evaluated. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated and compared with the PI controller and Fuzzy controller. © 2015 IEEE.

Web Services paradigm has been widely acknowledged by industry and academic research with the progress of web technology and e-business. Increasing number of web applications have been bundled as web services that can be published, positioned and invoked across the web. The importance of the issues regarding their publication and innovation attains a maximum as web services multiply and become more advanced and mutually dependent. This paper proposes an Enhanced UDDI for discovering web services in an efficient manner within a short response time. Initially, the web services are published in the UDDI registry, which is a standard one for publishing and discovering web services. The published web services are indexed and maintained in an index database to enable the effective discovery of web services. For invoking of web services, the search query is matched with the index database and the matched web services are provided to the service customer. The way of accessing the web services is stored in a log file, which is then utilized to provide personalized web services to the user. The discovery of web service is improved considerably by means of an effective searching facility provided by the proposed system and it is capable of providing the most suitable web service. © 2012 ICST Institute for Computer Science, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

Nowadays, the power quality (PQ)-related issues are more absorbed in power electronic devices. For compensating PQ disturbances, various types of power devices are used. The shunt active power filter (SAPF) is one of the power electronics devices that are used for enhancing the PQ. To reduce the PQ disturbances, the performance of SAPF must be improved. In this paper, a hybrid controller is proposed for improving the performance of SAPF and compensating the PQ. The hybrid technique is the combination of cuckoo search algorithm and radial basis function neural network technique which is used for extracting the reference current for compensating the SAPF and reducing the PQ problem. The SAPF is used for reducing the harmonic disturbances. The DC-link voltage is regulated by utilizing the proposed hybrid controller technique. Subsequently, the Fast Fourier Transform analysis is used for measuring total harmonic distortion values of the proposed system. The proposed method is implemented in MATLAB/Simulink platform and its performance is evaluated. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated and compared with the proportional–integral controller and fuzzy controller. © 2016 Engineers Australia.

In order to publishing and discovering web services initially, the web services are published in the UDDI registry subsequently the published web services are indexed. To improve the efficiency of discovery of web services, the indexed web services are saved as index database. The search query is compared with the index database for discovering of web services and the discovered web services are given to the service customer. The way of accessing the web services is stored in a log file, which is then utilized to provide personalized web services to the user. The finding of web service is enhanced significantly by means of an efficient exploring capability provided by the proposed system and it is accomplished of providing the maximum appropriate web service. In Wireless sensor Network, the sensor nodes transmit critical information over the network; therefore, security services, such as, authentication and pair wise key establishment between sensor nodes and mobile sinks, are important. However, the problem of authentication and pair wise key establishment in sensor networks with MSs is still not solved in the face of mobile sink replication attacks. For the basic probabilistic and q-composite key pre distribution schemes, an attacker can easily obtain a large number of keys by capturing a small fraction of the network sensor nodes, making it possible for the attacker to take control of the entire network by deploying a replicated mobile sink, preloaded with some compromised keys to authenticate and then initiate data communication with any sensor node. To solve this problem, we have developed a general framework that permits the use of any pair wise key pre distribution scheme as its basic component, to provide authentication and pair wise key establishment between sensor nodes and MSs. The new framework requires two separate key pools, one for the mobile sink to access the network, and one for pair wise key establishment between the sensors. © 2013 IEEE.

This paper explores the level of conducted EMI in a buck boost converter under a non linear load condition based on the CISPR 11/Class A EMC standard. Here, the buck boost converter was designed to produce a constant output voltage irrespective of load conditions. The closed loop control is designed using dsPIC controller. Three different randomization firing schemes are adopted and the EMI analysis in each mode is done experimentally. Also, the results are compared with normal PWM scheme. The experimental result shows that in RPWM scheme the emission levels are comparatively low. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

In recent years we are facing the power cut problems due to increasing demand of electricity, due to the development of industrial automation that requires huge power. Multinational companies (MNCs) also need certain Mega Watt (MW) interruption free power supply. This means that we may experience power cut much more than 60% in the short future. To compensate this power demand, power production through hybrid energy harvesting from piezoelectric material, rotational solar panel(sun tracking) and vertical axis wind turbine methods are used. These concepts can be used separately or combined depending upon electric power requirement. This project is used to power up the domestic houses and to power up the street lights in two-way roads. Piezoelectric materials are integrated and placed beneath the road for a particular distance from the street light. Due to mechanical stress produced by the vehicle, piezoelectric material produces electrical energy which is then it is stored in grid battery. In Rotational solar panel method, pendulum concept is used to rotate the solar panel to track the sun. The aim of this is to get the maximum energy with little use of solar panel. This model has an escapement wheel and a pendulum. A hanging weight transfers energy to an escapement wheel, which is released periodically by a swinging pendulum. So that the panel attached to shaft tracks the sun. Power produced from this is also stored in the same battery through charge controller. Vertical axis wind turbine is placed between the two way roads. Opposite motion of vehicle on two ways road induces a rotational force on the turbine which in turn produces an electric power. This power is also stored in the same battery. The battery is then discharged to power up the street lights. Same set up is built on the roof top of the houses, so that hybrid energy produced from these is used to power the domestic houses. This idea makes the domestic houses and street light to be independent of Electricity Board power supply. © 2012 Published by Elsevier Ltd.

Diesel Engines are the primary source of power for heavy duty as well as some light duty passengers and commercial vehicles. Since the amount of pollution emitted by vehicles is very high, effort should be done to minimize the emission characteristics of vehicles without affecting the performance of the engine. The emission characteristics of IDI diesel engine depend on many parameters. Some of the important factors, which influence the performance, and emission of diesel engine are fuel injection pump, fuel injection pressure, fuel injection timing, and nozzle angle. Work has been done to reduce the emission characteristics to meet Bharat Stage IV norms by optimizing the above parameters by optimizing DPC fuel injection pump, EGR, Turbocharger, Glow plug angle. © Research India Publications.

To many geographic systems (GIS) application scheme such as urban planning and navigation, updating road network database is critical problem. Rapidly changing urban environments accelerate the need for frequent updates or revisions of road network databases. With the advent of high-resolution satellite images, there has been a resurgence of research interest in road extraction techniques. However, due to the extreme complexity of an urban scene, automatic road network extraction continues to be challenging research topic. In this paper, we have proposed a road map extraction system with two efficient filters using satellite images. Here, Unscented Kalman filter (UKF) is used in combination with Gauss-Hermite Kalman Filter (GHKF) to trace and identify various connected road paths and to avoid obstacles under diverse conditions. Unscented Kalman filter (UKF) component is responsible for tracing axis coordinates of a road region until it comes to a severe obstacle or an intersection. Then, the Gauss-Hermite Kalman Filter (GHKF) module takes the control of the road extraction process and regains track of the road or possibly road branches on the other side of a road junction or obstacle. From the results, we ensure that the proposed road extraction technique outperformed the existing approach by achieving the accuracy of 98.452% in cluster 10. © 2013 Praise Worthy Prize S.r.l. - All rights reserved.
