Web Services paradigm has been widely acknowledged by industry and academic research with the progress of web technology and e-business. Increasing number of web applications have been bundled as web services that can be published, positioned and invoked across the web. The importance of the issues regarding their publication and innovation attains a maximum as web services multiply and become more advanced and mutually dependent. This paper proposes an Enhanced UDDI for discovering web services in an efficient manner within a short response time. Initially, the web services are published in the UDDI registry, which is a standard one for publishing and discovering web services. The published web services are indexed and maintained in an index database to enable the effective discovery of web services. For invoking of web services, the search query is matched with the index database and the matched web services are provided to the service customer. The way of accessing the web services is stored in a log file, which is then utilized to provide personalized web services to the user. The discovery of web service is improved considerably by means of an effective searching facility provided by the proposed system and it is capable of providing the most suitable web service. © 2012 ICST Institute for Computer Science, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering. Nowadays, the power quality (PQ)-related issues are more absorbed in power electronic devices. For compensating PQ disturbances, various types of power devices are used. The shunt active power filter (SAPF) is one of the power electronics devices that are used for enhancing the PQ. To reduce the PQ disturbances, the performance of SAPF must be improved. In this paper, a hybrid controller is proposed for improving the performance of SAPF and compensating the PQ. The hybrid technique is the combination of cuckoo search algorithm and radial basis function neural network technique which is used for extracting the reference current for compensating the SAPF and reducing the PQ problem. The SAPF is used for reducing the harmonic disturbances. The DC-link voltage is regulated by utilizing the proposed hybrid controller technique. Subsequently, the Fast Fourier Transform analysis is used for measuring total harmonic distortion values of the proposed system. The proposed method is implemented in MATLAB/Simulink platform and its performance is evaluated. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated and compared with the proportional–integral controller and fuzzy controller. © 2016 Engineers Australia. Source

Diesel Engines are the primary source of power for heavy duty as well as some light duty passengers and commercial vehicles. Since the amount of pollution emitted by vehicles is very high, effort should be done to minimize the emission characteristics of vehicles without affecting the performance of the engine. The emission characteristics of IDI diesel engine depend on many parameters. Some of the important factors, which influence the performance, and emission of diesel engine are fuel injection pump, fuel injection pressure, fuel injection timing, and nozzle angle. Work has been done to reduce the emission characteristics to meet Bharat Stage IV norms by optimizing the above parameters by optimizing DPC fuel injection pump, EGR, Turbocharger, Glow plug angle. © Research India Publications. The Cuckoo search (CS) algorithm technique which is used to get the reference current for compensating reactive power and reducing the PQ problem. The SAPF is used for reducing the harmonic disturbances. The dc link voltage is maintained as constant by using the proposed controller technique. Subsequently, the FFT analysis is used for measuring THD values of the proposed system. The proposed method is implemented in MATLAB/Simulink and its performance is evaluated. To many geographic systems (GIS) application scheme such as urban planning and navigation, updating road network database is critical problem. Rapidly changing urban environments accelerate the need for frequent updates or revisions of road network databases. With the advent of high-resolution satellite images, there has been a resurgence of research interest in road extraction techniques. However, due to the extreme complexity of an urban scene, automatic road network extraction continues to be challenging research topic. In this paper, we have proposed a road map extraction system with two efficient filters using satellite images. Here, Unscented Kalman filter (UKF) is used in combination with Gauss-Hermite Kalman Filter (GHKF) to trace and identify various connected road paths and to avoid obstacles under diverse conditions. Unscented Kalman filter (UKF) component is responsible for tracing axis coordinates of a road region until it comes to a severe obstacle or an intersection. Then, the Gauss-Hermite Kalman Filter (GHKF) module takes the control of the road extraction process and regains track of the road or possibly road branches on the other side of a road junction or obstacle. From the results, we ensure that the proposed road extraction technique outperformed the existing approach by achieving the accuracy of 98.452% in cluster 10. © 2013 Praise Worthy Prize S.r.l. - All rights reserved.
