Due to the ever-increasing number of digital lecture libraries and lecture video portals, the challenge of retrieving lecture videos has become a very significant and demanding task in recent years. Accordingly, the literature presents different techniques for video retrieval by considering video contents as well as signal data. Here, we propose a lecture video retrieval system using multimodal features and probability extended nearest neighbor (PENN) classification. There are two modalities utilized for feature extraction. One is textual information, which is determined from the lecture video using optical character recognition. The second modality utilized to preserve video content is local vector pattern. These two modal features are extracted, and the retrieval of videos is performed using the proposed PENN classifier, which is the extension of the extended nearest neighbor classifier, by considering the different weightages for the first-level and second-level neighbors. The performance of the proposed video retrieval is evaluated using precision, recall, and F-measure, which are computed by matching the retrieved videos and the manually classified videos. From the experimentation, we proved that the average precision of the proposed PENN+VQ is 78.3%, which is higher than that of the existing methods. © 2017 Walter de Gruyter GmbH, Berlin/Boston.

This paper summary the investigation and analysis of thermal energy storage extracted from solar heater and use for domestic purpose. Choosing a suitable phase change materials paraffin wax used for storing thermal energy in insulation tank. The tank carries minimum of 45 liters capacity of water and 50 numbers copper tubes each copper tube carries minimum of 100 grams PCM materials. Inside the tank phase change materials are receiving hot water from solar panel. This solar energy is stored in Copper tubes each copper tube contains PCM Materials as latent heat energy. Latent heat is absorbed and stored in Copper tubes.Large quantity of solar energy can be stored in a day time and same heat can be retrieved for later use. The tank was instrumented to measure inlet and outlet water temperature. The differences of temperature of the water is measured in a definite interval of time have been noted then calculating heat transfer rate and system effectiveness. The heat storage system is to be applied to store solar energy and the stored heat is used for domestic hot water supply system. © (2012) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Chemistry is really very helpful to us as its applications are used worldwide for several purposes. We cannot really imagine a world without chemistry and its applications such as medicines. However, we should now concentrate on green chemistry, or sustainable chemistry, which refers to reducing or stopping the damage done to the environment around us. Hence, green chemistry could include anything from reducing waste to even disposing of waste in the correct manner. Another way to save the environment through sustainable chemistry is to make use of renewable food stocks. Yet another good move is to make use of catalysts in experiments rather than using stoichiometric reagents. Chemical derivatives must be avoided as far as possible in any type of application as they often prove to be harmful. All chemical wastes should be disposed off in the best possible manner without causing any damage to the environment and living beings.This article presents selected examples of the implementation of green chemistry principles in everyday life in industry. A brief history of green chemistry are also mentioned.

An efficient method for the synthesis of Mikanecic acid diesters from Baylis-Hillman adducts, (alkyl-3- hydroxy-2-methylenepropanoates) obtained by treatment with various aldehydes with suitable acrylates catalyzed by 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO) which on treatment with 4-Dimethylaminopyridine (DMAP) led directly to the formation of Mikanecic acid diesters, through Diels-Alder type self-dimerization of 1,3-butadiene-2- carboxylate is reported. The product is obtained in good yield. This method offers an alternative route for the novel synthesis of mikanecic acid diesters in reasonable yields making the process more economic than other conventional methods.

The most important aspect that can make the experience of a tourist good or bad is the availability of relevant information about the place and the location. Right now the only source of information about various monuments and places is through human guides. But there are various problems associated with guides. The guides might not know the language of the traveller, or he might not know the right information about the place, and even charge the tourists excessively. Ultimately the tourist is not satisfied with the experience and the place. This paper describes the development of a low cost portable device with the headphone connected, so that the tourists can carry with them when they travel. In this project a complete system will be implemented and demonstrated in giving accurate information to the users, in a language of their choice. This project will also provide the tourists with context aware information, that is, information relevant to the monument and the location the tourists are in. The application described here will use a RFID technology and this can be used in many different locations like monuments, zoo, museum, parks etc. This can also be used in places like government offices and hospitals to give directions and information to users. © 2013 IEEE.

Wireless Network is an active research area in computer networks. There are many research issues in wireless network such as Identification of optimal route for data communication, efficient utilization of energy, clustering, providing congestion free communication, offering scalability, maintaining the Quality of Service (QoS), in which routing become a very important research issue. Minimization of power requirement, utilizing minimal network resources like bandwidth, gathering information and updating link failures are few constraints for designing optimal routing protocol for wireless network. Therefore, the traditional wired routing protocols are not suitable for wireless environment. This study proposes a hybrid routing protocol which utilizes two swarm intelligence approaches, artificial bee colony and ant colony optimization, called as vast intelligence of swam usage, for efficient routing in wireless environment. In order to promote error free communication, the bee colony used for identifying efficient cluster head and the ant colony identifies shortest route from source to cluster head. The results of the proposed work shows that the proposed Hybrid swarm intelligence will provide optimality than existing systems. © 2013 Asian Network for Scientific Information.
