Bio-efficacy of triazophos 20 EC alongwith chlorantraniliprole 18.5 SC, chlorpyriphos 20 SC, spinosad 45 SC, indoxacarb 14.5 SL, flubendiamide 39.35 SC and novaluron 10 EC against girdle beetle and stemfly was carried out. Triazophos 40 EC @ 800 ml/ha was found most superior in reducing the damage of both girdle beetle and stemfly. The highest yield (2061 kg/ha) was obtained from this treatment. Source

Investigation on effect of cane density and orientation was undertaken for improvement of growth, yield and quality of 'Thompson Seedless' grapes grafted on Dogridge rootstock in a factorial randomized block design with treatments consisting of four cane angles (vertical, 30°, 45° and 60°) with a density of 35, 40 and 45 canes per vine. The experiment was conducted at the Instructional cum Research Farm, College of Agriculture, Osmanabad (MS) India during 2012-13. Different characters of vine vigour, leaf, bunch, berry, yield and quality attributes were recorded. The results revealed that all attributes were significantly influenced by cane density (35 canes per vine) and orientation of shoot (45°) except TSS and juice pH. The highest vine vigour in terms weight of pruning (561.51 g), number of bunches per vine (36.11), length of bunch (19.29 cm), weight of a bunch (351.79 g), number of berries per bunch (122.91), weight of berry (2.92 g), length of berry (20.12 mm), diameter of berry (16.05 mm) and yield (21.20 Mt/ha). The highest length of internode (5.26 cm), leaf area (168.49 cm2), leaf area index (0.38) was recorded in the same cane density and shoot orientation. The highest TSS (21.92°B) and lowest acidity (0.40%) were determined at 35 canes per vine and a 45° orientation of shoots. However, almost all characters were at par with 45 canes per vine with a shoot orientation of 30°. It is inferred that the best vine canopy architecture of 35 canes per vine with a cane orientation at 45° was found to be suitable for vine vigour, yield and quality attributes under subtropical conditions in Maharashtra State of India. © 2015 ISHS. In order to test the bio-efficacy of some newer insecticides major pests of okra, a field experiment was conducted in kharif 2014 at Department of Entomology, VNMKV Parbhani (Maharashtra). Results showed that all the insecticidal treatments were significantly superior over untreated control in reducing the pests incidence. Among them the lowest aphid and jassid population were observed in T1 (Two sprays of acephate 50% + Imidacloprid 1.8% SP @ 1200 g/ha), treatment T5 (Thiamethoxam 25% WG @ 100 g/ha followed by Emamectin benzoate 5 SG @ 175 g/ha) were found most effective against white fly and E. vitella. However, lowest population of H. armigera was recorded in T3 (Acephate 75%. SP @ 780 g/ha followed by Emamectin benzoate 5 SG @ 175 g/ha). Source

A field experiment was carried out at Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani (M.S.) during 2012-13. The infestation of aphid, leaf webber and painted bug was initiated during 51st, 2nd and 2nd MW, respectively. The peak incidence of these pests was recorded during 9-10th MW. The correlation between aphid and maximum temperature (r 0.580) was significantly positive. The positively significant correlation was recorded between cabbage bug population and maximum temperature (r=0.810), minimum temperature (r=0.722) and evaporation (r=0.783). © Copyright EM International. The investigations were carried out to study the reaction of 15 entries of the mustard to mustard aphid (Lipaphis erysimi), leaf webber (Crciodolomia binotalis) and The results indicated that Jaikisan, Pusa bold and RH-8813 showed better resistance against aphid, on mustard, overall average data indictaed that Jaikisan was most tolerant entry to aphids which was followed by RH-8813, Pusa bold, MAUL-2 and RH-8812. The average data revealed that the entry Jaikisan showed more resistance against leaf webber which was at par with RH-8812, Jagnath, Pusa bold and RH-8813. © Copyright EM International. Source
