Permagnetic oxidation of 2,4-diMethoxybenzaldehyde has been studied at different temperatures using spectrophotometer under acidic conditions. The effect of variation of substrate (2,4-diMB), oxidant (KMnO4) and H2SO4 was studied under pseudo first order reaction conditions. The effect of different salts on oxidation of 2,4-diMB was also studied. The reaction was found to be first order with respect to oxidant, substrate and H2SO4. A suitable mechanism is also suggested for the oxidation reaction. © 2015, Sphinx Knowledge House. All rights reserved.

We report the synthesis of the Benzimidazole ligands, 2-[(1H Benzimidazole-2-yl)-methyl]-phenol, 2-[(1H-Bezimidazole-2yl)]-bromo-phenol, 2-[(1H-Benzimidazole-2yl)]-4-bromo-6-iodo-phenol, 2-[(1H-Benzimidzole-2yl)]-4,6-diiodo-phenol and their Cu(II) metal complexes, characterization and antimicrobial activity. The structure of the ligands and their complexes was investigated using, FT-IR, UV-Vis, TGA/DTA, X-ray Diffferaction. In the complexes, all the ligands behave as bidentate ligands, the oxygen in the ortho position and azomethine nitrogen atoms of the ligands coordinate to the metal ions. Antimicrobial activity of the ligands and metal complexes were tested Aspergillusniger, Aspergillusflavus, Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilisusing by the disc diffusion method.

8-ethoxy-3-acetyl coumarin 1, thiosemicarbazide 2 was condensed under microwave irradition gives 2-(1-(8-ethoxy- 2-oxo-2H-chromen-3-yl) ethylidene) hydrazinecarbothioamide 3 then 3, chloroacetyl chloride 4, substituted aryl aldehydes 5, were condensed in presence of alum catalyst to formed 5-benzylidene-2-((E)-(1-(8-ethoxy-2-oxo-2Hchromen- 3yl)ethylidene)hydrazono) thiazolidin-4-one 6, by simple grinding technique at room temperature under solvent free condition. Synthesized compounds were confirmed by IR, NMR, Mass and CHN analysis.

Pyrazole Curcumin was synthesized by using Microwave irradiation technique in Polyethylene Glycol-400 (PEG- 400) as solvent. One mole of Curcumin and 1.5 moles of substituted hydrazine when irradiate corresponding curcumin pyrazole derivatives were obtained in good yield. This method is eco friendly, time saving, productive and easy to workup.
