Abstract-Results are presented of study of electrical and optical characteristics of plasma of short glow dis-charge in the spherical-anode-plane- cathode electrode system at an interelectrode gap of 3 cm. Low-pres-sure (p = 150-1500 Pa) Ar-SF6 mixtures are investigated. Optimal conditions are revealed of the discharge radiation within the argon fluoride waveband with the maximum at 193 nm. The electron kinetic coefficients are calculated for 92 : 8 and 99 : 1 Ar-SF6 mixtures; these mixtures are used in gas-discharge exciplex lamps. © Pleiades Publishing, Ltd., 2011. Source

Saturation in deep inelastic scattering and deeply virtual Compton scattering is associated with a phase transition between the partonic gas, typical of moderate x and Q2, and partonic fluid appearing at increasing Q2 and decreasing Bjorken x. In this paper we do not intend to propose another parametrization of the structure function; instead we suggest a new insight into the internal structure of the nucleon, as seen in deep inelastic scattering, and its connection with that revealed in high-energy nucleons and heavy-ion collisions. © 2010 World Scientific Publishing Company. Ionization and excitation of the uracil molecules by electron impact is investigated. Production of positive ions of uracil molecules (nucleic acid base) was studied using a crossed electron and molecular beam technique. The method developed by the authors enabled the molecular beam intensity to be measured and the electron dependences and the absolute values of the total cross sections of production of both positive ions to be determined. It is shown that the total positive uracil ion production cross section reaches its maximal value of (1.0 ± 0.1) × 10-15 cm2 at the 95 eV electron energy. Dissociative ionization cross sections were also determined. The luminescence spectra of isolated uracil molecules in the wavelength range of 200-500 nm under the influence of slow electrons are obtained. In the spectrum, more than 20 spectral bands and lines at 100 eV electron energy are observed. It is shown that the uracil radiation spectrum is formed by the processes of molecules dissociative excitation, dissociative excitation with ionization, excitation of electronic levels of the initial molecule and molecular ion. © 2012 American Institute of Physics. In this work, following the crystallochemical analysis and electronic structural parameters of Tl4PbTe3, Tl4SnSe3 and Tl4PbSe3 single crystals, we predicted and experimentally demonstrated the second harmonic generation (SHG) and electrooptics effects for them. Photoinduced changes were performed by using the 7 ns UV nitrogen laser at wavelength 337 nm. The parameters of the SHG were determined through probing in to the reflected regime at wavelength of the 532 nm. The dependence of the output SHG versus photoinducing power density is studied. Explanation of the observed effect is given within a framework of the quantum chemical DFT simulations. © 2014, Springer Science+Business Media New York. Source

The optimum conditions of the extraction of the ion associates of platinum with the thiocyanate ions and the polymethine basic dye Astrafloxin FF by aromatic hydrocarbons and acetic acid esters from aqueous and aqueous-organic solutions were studied. The introduction of water-soluble donor-active solvents (hexamethylphosphoric triamide, N,N-diethylacetamide, N,N-dimethylformamide, and N,N-diethyl-formamide) leads to a considerable increase in the extraction of the ion associates of platinum and the simultaneous suppression of the extraction of the simple dye salt. The molar absorption coefficients of the extracts of ion associates are as high as (8.1-13.3) × 10 4. 84-96% platinum is extracted in the form of ion associates by a single extraction. The conversion of platinum into ion associates makes it possible to separate platinum from many elements, including Cu, Cd, Ni, Co, Cr, Pb, In, Ag, Pd, Ir, Rh, and Ru, by extraction. In this case, platinum(II) is extracted in the form of ion associates under standard conditions, whereas platinum(IV) is extracted only after the preliminary thermal treatment of the test sample. A new procedure was developed for the extraction-spectrophotometric determination of the trace amounts of platinum(II) and plati-num(IV), in particular, in their mixtures. © 2012 Pleiades Publishing, Inc.
