Quality of life (QL) of premenopausal women (n=76) with arterial hypertension (AH) with normal and low level of estradiol was studied with the use of Short Form 36 Health Quality Survey. QL of women with estrogen deficit was significantly worse than QL of premenopausal female patients with preserved estrogen level. Source

Deformation behavior of a human dentin under compression including size and rate effects is studied. No difference between mechanical properties of crown and root dentin is found. It is mechanically isotropic high elastic and strong hard tissue, which demonstrates considerable plasticity and ability to suppress a crack growth. Mechanical properties of dentin depend on a shape of samples and a deformation rate. © 2012 Dmitry Zaytsev et al. Source

Tracking techniques are widely used in the processing of images in ultrasound cardiological examinations. One of the applications of this method consists in the automatic delineation of the internal and external borders of the cardiac chambers for all frames of the source video. However, owing to significant deformations of the image, which are often observed in practice, a loss of tracking can occur. We propose a new technique to improve the accuracy and stability of the classical speckle tracking algorithm taking into account the special features of the video picture of the ultrasound examination of the heart. The method is based on an assessment of the nature of the movement of regions of the heart wall using the obtained images, prediction of the position of the speckle in the next frame, and using this information to calculate the weighted function of mutual correlation used to determine the exact position of a speckle. Testing of the proposed method on the actual clinical results of echocardiographic examinations has demonstrated its high stability and accuracy, which is sufficient for practical application in ultrasound diagnostics. © 2013 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd. Aim of the study was to assess influence of long-term therapy with angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor lisinopril on morphofunctional parameters of the left ventricle (LV) and painless myocardial ischemia in 109 premenopausal women with stage II hypertension depending on functional state of peripheral artery endothelium. The results show that lisinopril therapy in premenopausal women with hypertension can stop or even cause regression of LV myocardial hypertrophy and produce favorable effect on LV remodeling mostly in women with concentric type of hypertrophy and/or without endothelial dysfunction, and has positive effect on frequency of painless myocardial ischemia events. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) exacerbations are evaluated from a history of the disease, its clinical symptoms, and laboratory tests. The most common causes of a COPD exacerbation are upper respiratory tract and tracheobronchial Infections. The exacerbation severity usually corresponds to the magnitude of clinical manifestations of COPD during Its stable course. Successful treatment in patients with a COPD exacerbation is determined by its timely diagnosis. When treating patients with a mild or moderate exacerbation of Stages l-ll COPD in an outpatient setting, it is advisable to use ascoril having broncholytic, mucolytic, and mucokinetic properties along with antibiotics and glucocorticosteroids, if clinically Indicated.
