Objectives. Make a prevention fall-risk protocol in two hospitalized geriatric populations. Verify the efficacy. Materials and methods. We analized two hospitalized geriatric populations, from the UOMRS Foundation Richiedei in Gussago. In the first one, we analized the incidence of falls and the risk-factors, using the student-t-test and ANOVA test. In the second one, we applied the preventive-fall-protocol. Results. Patients with falls, in both populations, had the worst cognitive and functional performance. Falls caused fractures in 11,6% patients and delirium in 40,2%. Conclusions. The preventive fall-protocol allows for a better management of fall risk assessment. Caregivers involvement improves, hospital rehabilitation and a safer home care management. Source
