Raw sewage sludge with moisture content of 97.3% was dewatered with three conditioners based on skeleton builders (F-L, F-S and S-F), and dewatering effect was investigated. Moreover, engineering properties of dewatered sludge reused for landfill cover were tested emphatically. The results show that inorganic conditioners act as skeleton builders for conditioning sewage sludge, SRF and CST of sludge decrease significantly. It indicates that skeleton builders can improve the dewatering properties of sludge. The unconfined compression strength and cohesion of specimen made from dewatered sludge increase with an increase of curing days, while the internal friction angle changes little. Therefore, the dewatered sludge with skeleton builders by using three kinds of composite conditioners exhibits excellent engineering properties.
