Four corn. inorg. pigments were dispersed In water in presence of surfactants and thickeners (synthesized in situ). PoIy(vinyl alcohol), Na salt of carboxymethyi cellulose as well as water-based polyurethane oligomer, acrylic and metacrylic polymers and copolymers were used as thickeners. The dispersions were studied for stability, crit. micelle concn., viscosity and dispersion efficiency. The systems contg. Na salt of carboxymethyl cellulose or polyurethane oligomer with ethoxylated satd. fatty aic. or fatty amine were most efficient. Source

Poly(vinyl chloride) emulsion was plasticized with Bu2 phthalate (100:120 by mass), thickened with colloidal SiO2 kaolin, bentonite or Na CM-cellulose (0.8-9.1% by mass), optionally dild. with p-xylene (1.7-21.4% by mass), and studied for viscosity (shearing stress 10-150 mPa), pseu-doplasticity factor and activation energy for viscous flow at 20-40°C. The exp. data were correlated with concns. of the thickeners and p-xylene by polynomial equations. Source

Polyvinyl chloride) was plasticized with Bu 2 phthalate and dild. with Mef 3C 6H 4 BuOAc, BuOH, cyxlohexanone and their mixts. to study the storage stability of the plastisols for 42 days at room temp. The viscosity of the plastisols was detd. at 20-40°C and shear stress 40 mPa and used for calcg. the plasticity coeffs. and activation energy of viscous flow. The viscosity, plasticity coeff. and activation energy data were correlated by a polynomial equations as a functions of the storage time. The highest storage stability of the plastisols was achieved when they were dild. with Me 2C 6H 4, BuOAc or the BuOH-cyclohexanone mixts. Source

Sixteen com. inorg. pigments were purified by extn. with AcOBu and studied for sp. surface (adsorption of methylene blue), interplanar distance, phase compn. (X-ray diffraction) and plasticizer no. The sp. surface did not depend on crystallographic structure and at. compn. but strongly affected the adsorption ability of the pigments. Source
