We report on muon-spin-relaxation (μSR) experiment of organic semiconductor spiro-linked compound 2′,7′-bis(N,N-diphenylamino)-2- (5-(4-tert-butylphenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl)-9,9-spirobifluorene (Spiro-DPO) measured at temperatures between 8 and 300 K and at longitudinal fields up to 395 mT in order to study charge transport properties in organic semiconductor. The μSR time spectra were analyzed by using Risch and Kehr (RK) function and it indicates a transition from one-dimensional hopping transport of charge carriers at low temperatures to two- or three-dimensional hopping transport at high temperatures (>75 K). © 2012 Elsevier B.V. Twenty-three synthetic (thio)hydantoins and benzalhydantoins were evaluated for antimicrobial activity against Candida albicans, Malassezia furfur, Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, by the paper disc diffusion method. 3-n-butyl-4'-nitrobenzalhydantoin showed very high activity against E. coli and high selectivity with respect to the other microorganisms, while 3-n-butyl-2'-bromo-4',5'-dimethoxybenzal hydantoin demonstrated very high selectivity in its activity against M. furfur and S. aureus. These compounds show the most promise as drug lead compounds. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The Special Programme for Food Security (SPFS) was launched in Indonesia to alleviate rural poverty and food security as a response to declining of agriculture production. The project located in 10 farmers group at 6 villages in district of Langensari, the city of Banjar, West Java province. The method of this project was Rapid Rural Appraisal (RRA) with Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) approach, and continued with Focus Group Discussion (FGD). The farmer group was selected based on food security status in every group. From PRA and workshop conducted with farmer, we found out that food security status of the farmers from their farm only 6 to 9 month/ year in safe condition. The project has assisted farmer group to identify their needs and made economic calculation up to Internal Rate of Return (IRR). As a result, the farmer group received 103 cattles (IRR 0.40), 36 goats (IRR 0.40), 3,020 chickens (IRR 0.54), 1,360 ducks (IRR 0.40), 18,650 gurami fish (IRR 1.05).Rp. 213,400,000,-(US $ 25,105.88) agricultural inputs, 16 hand tractors (IRR 0.60) and 15 water pumps (IRR 0.06). The farmers received revolving fund have an obligation to attend farmer field school to increase their knowledge and to strengthen farmer group institution.

Rose (Rosa hybrida L.) is an ornamental potted flower. Beside its beauty and varieties, its proportional shapes have also become customer's demand. This problem could be overcome by applying retardant substance in order to control the plants growth. The application of paclobutrazol and 1-Methylcyclopropene was proven to maintain the freshness of the plants (the previous experiment). The experiment was conducted in Rose Nursery Garden, Desa Cihideung, Lembang-West Java (Indonesia), in April-August 2014. The experiment was applying Randomized Group Design (RGD) consisted of seven treatments: (0 ppm+0 mL L-1, 250, 500 ppm, 4, 6, 8 WAG, 0,5 mL L-1). The results showed that the treatment of 500 ppm concentrations of paclobutrazol and 1-applied for 4 weeks after grafting showed the best result on the flower growth, crown display and quality. © 2015 Knowledgia Review, Malaysia.
