The paper explores the influence of the background effect of induction or simultaneous contrast on a specific type of media during the reproduction of a constructed design solution. The lightness of the background that surrounds the primary stimulus (rectangle) on a specifically constructed design was varied in ten ways. The intensity and direction of variations in the manifestation of lightness was determined with the help of the technique of simultaneous binocular harmonization on a certain number of respondents (10). The ANOVA analysis determined the existence of differences between arithmetic means (F = 132,50; p = 0,000), and the post-hoc analysis by Fisher classified three groups of samples: samples on which simultaneous contrast reflects more strongly (a very dark background); samples on which the effect is weaker (a light background); and samples on which the effect is manifested in the opposite direction (a very bright background). © 2016, Strojarski Facultet. The Community for Accredited Online Schools, a leading resource provider for higher education information, has ranked the best colleges and universities with online programs in the state of Illinois. Of the four-year schools that were ranked, 35 made the list with Northwestern University, University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, Loyola University Chicago, Southern Illinois University Carbondale and DePaul University positioned as the top five. Illinois’ top 19 two-year schools were also included on the list, with Illinois Central College, Richland Community College, Kaskaskia College, Harper College and Waubonsee Community College coming in as the top five. “As online programs become more readily available at Illinois schools, the options for students who want to earn a degree on their own schedule become more difficult to choose from,” said Doug Jones, CEO and founder of AccreditedSchoolsOnline.org. “The schools on our list have proven themselves to be the most high-quality options for an online education in Illinois.” To earn a spot on the Best Online Schools list, Illinois colleges and universities must be institutionally accredited, public or private not-for-profit entities. Each college is also scored based on more than a dozen unique data points that include graduation rates, total online program offerings and financial aid availability. Thin-walled pipes are not suitable for measuring fracture toughness parameters which are of vital importance in pipes because the crack failure is the most common in pipes. They are not suitable because it is impossible to make standard specimens for measuring the fracture toughness like SENB or CT specimens from the thin wall of the pipe. Lot of researches noticed this problem, but only few are found the good and cheap alternative solution for measuring the fracture toughness. Gubeljak and Matvienko proposed so-called Pipe-Ring specimen (PRS) or Pipe-Ring Notched Bend specimen (PRNB) as alternative solution to the SENB specimen. Until now, only the idealized geometry of PRS specimen is analysed, so specimen which is not cut out from the real pipe but made from plate. On this way, the residual stresses are neglected. The aim of this work is to estimate the hoop residual stresses in the real pipes used in boiler industry, produced by hot-rolling technique, so seamless pipes. These kinds of pipes are delivered only normalized, but not stress relieved too. Therefore, there are surly residual stresses present in pipes which are result of manufacturing technique, but also of uneven cooling after the production process. Within this work, hoop stress as the most relevant for pipes is estimated by two methods: incremental hole drilling method and splitting method. Although residual stresses are cause of collapse of many constructions, still in most cases of analysis and design of individual parts, structures and plants residual stresses are not taken into consideration. Residual stresses surly have some effect on the fatigue behaviour of materials as well as on the fracture toughness of material, therefore it is recommended to take them into account while calculating the lifetime of component or structure. © 2016 The Authors. The development of ICT technologies and usage in various fields enable faster development and analysis of large amounts of data, but also a way of saving the data. Stored data are easier to search, edit and analyse. Stored data, usually stored in databases, can be analysed and useful information can be drawn. As Internet communication becomes the dominant way in exchange of data and information, many application and expert system were developed. In this paper is shown AssistantCoach expert system, which was developed for supporting basketball coaches in making decisions and analysing games. It describes a new algorithm for game win percentage prediction and allows users to make notes about opponent players and teams, but also notes about their own players, trainings and different types of game analysis. Based on input parameters (IPE in selected time period, predicted parameters) the expert system calculates game win percentage. By increasing or decreasing parameters, coaches are able to find the highest percentage for the win and to use time before game to correct team mistakes. In addition to the algorithm for game win percentage, the expert system offers their user a number of different analysis and statistics. Expert system uses every input game boxscore and other notes as a new material to learn. Described methods and algorithm are verified on a selected sample of basketball games and selected time period. Copyright © 2015 by SCITEPRESS-Science and Technology Publications, Lda. Strategic networking (SN) is the process through which firms leverage specialization, efficiently allocate transformational resources and optimize support through information sharing. The purpose of this paper is to examine the influence of strategic networking (SN) on entrepreneurial orientation and firm performance of Croatian SMEs, one of a dozen small, open and still-transitioning European economies. Financial and non-financial indicators were used in order to more precisely clarify the multidimensional aspect of the SN-EO-performance relationships. The external environment was assessed in terms of turbulence, hostility and dynamism, where its direct effect on SN and EO was tested. Research results indicate that defined structural model has a satisfactory fit level to empirical data and that structural coefficients lead to the acceptance of the research hypotheses. More importantly, the results yield some significantly new elements necessary for understanding the role of SN for the EO and performance of SMEs in a developing economy. © 2016, Strojarski Facultet. Measuring process of acoustic quality parameters in sound control room in order to determine the best setup is described. Measurements of six sound control rooms impulse response have been made. The measurements are executed in accordance with the standard ISO3382. In all sound control rooms the same measurement method is used, but the measurement setups are changed. In the first scenario built-in monitor loudspeakers were used. In the second scenario, omnidirectional sound source was used. Omnidirectional measuring microphone and an artificial head were used as receivers. They were placed at the optimal listening position. Principal components analysis method is used to get the most accurate result from measured data obtained under different scenarios and measuring setups. Hence, the measuring conditions and setups which determine the value of subjective assessments of the sound control room are obtained. The results shall be used to calculate correlation between objective measurements and subjective assessments. © 2015, Strojarski Facultet. All rights reserved.
