This study investigated the efficiency of electrochemical oxidation in removing chemical oxygen demand (COD) from leachate. The paper studies the factors affecting the efficiency of removing COD of leachate, such as applied voltage, electrolysis time and Clconcentration. Charcoal composite electrode was used as anode, the results show that the electrochemical oxidation can be applied to leachate treatment. The operating conditions were applied voltage of 15 V, the raw pH, Cl- concentration of 1.5% (w/v), operating time of 90 min. with charcoal-poly vinyl chloride (C-PVC) electrode, the highest COD removal efficiencies was 82%. © 2015, Sphinx Knowledge House. In this research, new composite electrodes of platinum (Pt), silver (Ag), aluminium (Al), cobalt (Co), copper (Cu), nickel (Ni) and iron (Fe) with PVC were prepared. The ready composite electrodes were then used as a working electrode to treat a leachate samples using electrochemical method with stainless steel as the counter electrode. Electrochemical oxidation processes, is one of the environmental friendly technologies in landfill leachate treatment processes. The results showed a composition of Co85-PVC15was the best electrode whichgave the removal percentage of color, COD and NH3-N are 82, 80 and 76% respectively. © 2015, Sphinx Knowledge House. The complexation of nickel acetate with tetraaza involves deprotonation of protonated amine nitrogen to form neutral ligand coordinated to the nickel via the four nitrogen atom. The dication complex is paired with thiocyanate anions. The complex was characterized by elemental analysis, UV-VIS and FTIR spectroscopic method. In this paper, the fabrication of open cellular titanium foams by using an innovative spacer through powder metallurgy was investigated. Current space holders used to fabricate titanium foam have brought attention to issues such as solubility, removal time, expensiveness and lack of environmental friendliness. Starch, as a new spacer, has been utilized in this research to overcome these issues. Starch is an environmentally friendly organic polymer that can be burnt off easily by heating. Starch is chemically stable and is not soluble in titanium. Titanium foams were fabricated in this study using starch. The mechanical properties and pore structures were investigated by SEM. The porosities of the fabricated titanium foams were 64-79%, and the sizes of open cellular pores were 100-300 μm. The observed yield strength of the foams was in the range of 23-41 MPa, and the Young's moduli were 1.6-3.7 GPa. Finally, the XRD results of titanium before and after sintering were studied to ensure that the foams produced featured no contamination. © 2011 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. Source
