Microemulsion with several characteristics has been widely used in many researches. In this work, the phase behavior of a ternary system consisting of TX-100, n-butanol, cyclohexane and water was studied. A two-phase region and a single-phase regionawhich could be divided into water-in-oil, bicontinuous, and oil-in-water microemulsion regions based on electrical conductivity measurements in the ternary phase diagram were investigated.5The surface tension measurements illustrated that the minimum point of the surface tension was close to the point of TX-100 content that emulsion phase transferred to microemulsion. The dynamic light scattering (DLS) results showed that the hydrodynamic diameters of different kinds of microemulsions were all less than 100 nm, increasing along with the water content of the system, and significantly different from common emulsion. Furthermore, this work focused on the osmosis of microemulsion for wood compared with other solvents. The results indicated that the wood absorbed the microemulsion rapidly, especially the bicontinuous microemulsion, which can reach 75% of the initial weight no more than 10 min. The penetration effectiveness of the microemulsion was higher than that of water, ethanol and emulsion. © 2011 American Scientific Publishers.

The treatment of bagasse pulp TCF bleaching effluent was introduced, the treatment effect was monitored and the orgoric material in the effluent was detected with GC-MS. The results showed that bagasse pulp TCF bleaching was a kind of cleaner bleaching technology, and the treated effluent could meet the national discharge of GB3544-2008. So the engineering design was reasonable and the effluent treatment plant was running steady and reliably.
