Compared with traditional geometric orientation method, the gyrotheodolite is an all-weather advanced directional instrument which isn't affected by time, location, environmental condition. GT3H gyrotheodolite has such advantages as small dimension, quick north finding, high precision, easy operation, easy to learn, etc. In order to evaluate its measurement performance, an overall inspection on the GT3H gyrotheodolite was made by comparing with the astronomy measurement's achievement, including the calibration method & efficiency & results & accuracy, and the standard deviation of north finding results. It is proved that the GT3H can be used as a high precision orientation measurement instrument, which can reduce labor intensity and cost, and improve work efficiency.
