The effect of heat treatment on the optical properties of heterostructures containing titanium and tungsten oxide films is studied. The films were synthesized on a quartz glass substrate in low-temperature lowpressure plasma. It is found that the heat treatment of the samples containing the tungsten oxide films in vacuum at 700 C leads to the formation of hydrogen tungsten bronze with a cubic lattice. The crystallization processes that occur in the heterostructures are affected by both the temperature of the heat treatment and the sequence of the layers on the substrate. © 2013 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

A method has been described for preparation of suspensions of magnetite nanoparticles stabilized by porous silicon dioxide. The process of sedimentation of nanoparticles in suspensions of different compositions and concentrations has been analyzed by transmission coefficient measurements. Spectra of the transmission coefficient have been obtained for suspensions containing composite nanoparticles, the initial silicon dioxide, and macroscopic magnetite particles. The average effective radius of nanoparticles has been calculated from the time dependences of the transmission coefficient. It has been demonstrated that the synthesized nanoparticles possess magnetic-resonance contrast properties. © 2013 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

The sol-gel method is employed to produce Fe2O 3-NiO-Co3O4-SiO2 magnetic nanocomposites. The composition of the powders of the xerogels is examined by X-ray phase analysis. The magnetic characteristics of these nanomaterials are studied. © 2013 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
