It is shown that the preliminary thioetherification reaction between mercaptan groups and oxirane cycles promotes the increase of the complex of deformation-strength and adhesion properties of epoxy-thiocol mixtures cured at room temperature. To a greater degree, the effect is revealed for the factors of a specific impact viscosity and destruction and shear strength of the adhesive joints. © 2012 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd. Source

Deformation, strength, dynamic-mechanical, and adhesive properties of polymers based on thiirane and oxirane mixtures were studied. The influence of mono- and diglycidyl diluents on the adhesion, deformation strength, and dynamic mechanical properties of the adhesive composition based on a product previously prepared by the thioetherification reaction between epoxy resin and liquid thiokol has been investigated. It has been shown that the introduction of the diluents into the composition leads to an increase in the tensile strength, failure strain, and the work of fracture of the material at a moderate change in the adhesion strength. An epoxy thiirane derivative of benzimidazolone-2 was synthesized. An addition of epoxy thiirane derivative of denzimidazolone-2 to epoxy rubber and epoxy composites was shown to increase their thermal stability, elasticity modulus, and cohesion and adhesion strengths, especially at higher test temperatures. The complex character of the effect of aluminum oxide and zirconium dioxide nanopowders that differ in their thermal prehistory, the specific surface value of particle sizes, phase composition, and the content of alloying additive of yttrium oxide on the stress-strain, thermophysical, tribotechnical, and adhesion properties of epoxy polymers is revealed.
