Results of long-term studies on the content of 137Cs in the water and suspended matter of the Danube River are given in the paper. The average per month and the average per year concentrations of 137Cs, and also its monthly and annual transfer through the Danube River delta, were calculated. Long-term tendencies of contamination and ecological periods of 137Cs half-decay in the water and suspended matter were assessed. The coefficients of 137Cs distribution between solid and liquid phases of migration were calculated. Additional contamination conditioned by industrial activities (spills from nuclear power plants and radiation accidents) was revealed and assessed. Results of the study can be used in calculating parameters of 137Cs migration over food links, and also in calibrating the models of 137Cs river transport. © 2012 Begell House, Inc.

We study the space-and-time variations of the delivery of fluxes of 26 elements (Na, K, Rb, Cs, Cu, Ag, Au, Ca, Sr, Ba, Zn, Cd, Hg, Hf, Ta, As, Sb, Cr, Se, Mo, W, Mn, Br, Fe, Co and Ni) with atmospheric precipitations to the sea surface in the regions of Sevastopol and the South Coast of Crimea. It is established A series of general regularities of the delivery of the sum of these elements and their soluble and insoluble forms. We also give the characteristics of their space-time variability. © 2012 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc.
