Results are presented for a study of combined melting of dust that is complex with respect to chemical and mineral composition from Vanyukov furnace electric filters and the magnetic fraction of zinc production clinker separation in an ore heating furnace. The possibility of arsenic concentration in slag and sublimates is demonstrated by controlling the reducing capacity of a charge. © 2011 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc.

Kinetic regularities of impurity transfer into the solution when leaching the calcined Waelz oxide of zinc production are determined by leaching the individual iron, copper, and lead oxides. The escape of impurities into the solution during when the model iron and copper oxides is limited by the induction developmental period of the reaction, which is attributed to the selective adsorption of protons on the oxide surface and separate active centers with the subsequent diffusion of protons into the oxide phase bulk. The chemical interaction itself is the slowest stage at the degree of recovery α < 0.5, and the reaction runs in the kinetic mode. © 2015, Allerton Press, Inc.

Kinetic regularities of leaching the actual industrial sample of calcined Waelz oxide of zinc production are determined. The basic reaction mechanism is established. The dissolution of solid-phase particles can be conditionally differentiated into two stages. In the initial instant, the reaction is developed in the external diffusion mode following the topochemical mechanism. The process mechanism changes at the second leaching stage, which is evidenced by the limiting character of the time dependence of recovery of zinc, which is caused by the formation of dissolving parts of reaction products forming the poorly permeable films on the surface. The internal diffusion is the limiting stage in this case. © 2015, Allerton Press, Inc.

Results are presented from studies of the elemental and phase compositions of dust from the electrostatic precipitators of a Vanyukov furnace operated at the Middle Ural Copper Smelter The size and shape of the dust particles were evaluated and the dust's elemental composition was examined at local probe points. The results were generalized, and it was determined that there is a correlation between the copper and lead contents of the dust and between the copper and arsenic contents of the sulfide phases. © 2014, Springer Science+Business Media New York.
